Sony A6300 Rolling Shutter Comparison
@ Balazer & VK, Yes, sorry, this is the lens I was referring to, got it mixed up with Sigma 19mm - Sony 20mm f/2.8 Alpha E-mount Lens - Sony is a compact 20mm prime lens for the Sony NEX line of APS-C sized mirrorless cameras.
http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/913561-REG/sony_sel20f28_20mm_f_2_8_alpha_e_mount.html/prm/alsVwDtl - $323, so is this what you mean by a "newer" lens (2013) meaning good or not?
and yes there is a 19mm Sigma - http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/918897-REG/sigma_19mm_f_2_8_dn_for.html/prm/alsVwDtl is less - $199 but one reviewer said "It seems that the phase detection AF is not working"
And yes a Balazer mentions, there is a 16mm, 2.8 from 2010 - http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/695859-REG/Sony_SEL16F28_SEL16F28_16mm_f_2_8_Wide_Angle.html/prm/alsVwDtl ($223)
Alas, the a6300 would be an ideal b-cam for me, but the overheating issue is off-putting and is preventing me from pulling the trigger. Has anyone information on the use of external recorders with this cam? (Pix-e5 or Shogun for example.) I'd like very much to know if the camera's overheating issue is ameliorated when using external capture.
Edit: I just read on another blog site that external recorders do seem to avoid the overheating issue as long as you trigger the recording directly on the recorder and not through the camera. This may make it reliable after all! I think I may pick one up and try it out with my Shogun and Pix-E5.
