  • What about that Gamma shift? haha

  • "When can we expect the 2.0 firmware for GH2? I do not have idea about release date for now. But due to drastic changes can be not very fast. is there any chance for focus peaking in the new firmware ? It is not decided yet."

thank you Vitaliy, I´m crossing my fingers! DSLR revolution is here :)

  • Prima Aprilis! I didn't know what to write, so i have pasted a picture of a cat traversing the universe on a keyboard.

  • Astonished.

  • Really happy for you, Vitaliy! You totally deserve this, all the best!

  • Wow it is da big thing. Congrats Vitaliy. You earned it.

  • When can we expect the 2.0 firmware for GH2?

I do not have idea about release date for now. But due to drastic changes can be not very fast.

is there any chance for focus peaking in the new firmware ?

    It is not decided yet.

  • Congrats Vitaliy it sounds great! I knew this day will come , but I didn´t expect it so soon.. Good luck to you and your team and also for Panasonic.. I am really really very happy I´m so excited that I almost forgot to ask you my question :) When can we expect the 2.0 firmware for GH2? is there any chance for focus peaking in the new firmware ?

  • " Any word on Picture profiles in the 2.0 firmware?

Can't talk prior NAB much. But can give you a clue. You won't call them Picture profiles in v2.0."

Lets hope this means more user control and truly flat settings for cinematic grading. HOPEFULLY this has to do with the GH2 and firmware 2.0 isnt too far away.

  • Congrats! If Panasonic plays the cards correctly on this, they will do very very well, and by playing their cards correct .. make the camera open enough so people can hack it.. still void the warranty etc.. but allow us to putz with it and help them improve there own product, the only reason I got my first GH2 was because of the hack and since then have bought 2 more cameras simply due to the hack-ability.. without the hack I would have gone cannon due to magic lantern.. But the Micro4/3 format and the lens hacking you can do with it, and the firmware hacks are what sold me on Pany in the firs place.

Pany, don't blow this, embrace it and blow every other company out of the water!

Now I may hold off on those 2 new GH2's at work, if VK and team is now on the Pany team.. the GH3 is going to be a mind blowing camera for the industry.

Praying this is not a April Fools Joke on us! But then again if it is true, it will be the biggest April fools joke to the Camera industry.. the competition is dead.

  • @jfro but announcement could be made only today, due to the starting of new financial year for Panasonic Corporation and Senior Management changes completion.

  • This is Major! Another reason I really like and support Panasonic. Particularly their amazing engineers.

The fact that a consumer oriented product would be open to some of the more pro users here is amazing. With 6 months or so until Photokina and most likely the GH-3 announcement, that's plenty of time to support some of the features we wish for.

I'd love to see P-Log, I think Panasonic's sensor technology is great, and would love to see a truly flat, no sharpening or contrast profile. That should be possible since it would just be coding, not hardware.

And as Vitaliy suggested, some type of 1080/24p HDR. Not Canon 12p. Again, like with Magic Lantern it is just coding not hardware. If nothing else it is a cool selling feature.

    Good luck Vitaily!!!

  • Interesting. It's 6:13pm my time March 31. It is Moscow is 2:13 am. Anouncement was posted here about 50 minutes ago. That would be April 1, . Hope this isn't a fool thing....

  • Congrats Vitaliy!

  • Is this partnership, delay reason for gh3 realease?

  • Big congratulations regarding the big news! It's indeed bigger than most of us imagined. It's great to see all of your time and efforts being acknowledged.

Exactly opposite. As you miss "for selected cameras" and do not count community administration, moderation, arranging deals, etc.

Donating again as a thank you for all that has been done and is continuing to be done. Sincerely appreciate all the education, opinions, tools and deals that have been provided.

  • This all sounds a bit too good to be true

Not so good as I hoped.
As for many Panasonic cameras hacks still will be the only way of improvements.
Even GH2 is tough, as most developers are working now on three new cameras based on new Venus Revolution LSI.

  • Forgive me for being sceptical, but I'm gonna go ahead and avoid this site until april 2nd. This all sounds a bit too good to be true
