GM1 focused fairly fast despite the low light conditions. It still performed faster than any Fujifilm camera that we’ve tested and also still faster than any offering from Sony, Canon and Samsung.

Am I mistaken, or does this camera at only 7 oz weigh less than the Go Pro Hero? I've been balking at purchasing a Defy gimbal for my GH3 ($2,600+), but perhaps I could buy both the GM1 and a Go Pro stabilizer for under $1,600. I'd be saving over $1,000,;the device would put much less strain on my arms; and I'd also have a second body for one of my zoom lenses. What do you think?
Remember the weights which gets quoted for MILCs are just for the camera body, still got to add the weight of a lens to it!
But I know my Panasonic 14mm f/2.5 is super light and wouldn't add much to it, and I guess the new pancake zoom which comes with it shouldn't way too much more if at all.
Here's one I'm considering getting. I know it might seem off topic, but other owners might take the size and weight into account when trying to decide between the new Sonys, the G6, the GX7 and the GM1 to complement their GH3.
Does anyone know whether the GM1 will have full manual video controls? (Or will the video function be crippled like on the GF series and the GX1?)
Yes the GM1 seems to have manual movie mode like the GH3/GX7. From this review:
http://www.cameralabs.com/reviews/Panasonic_Lumix_DMC_GM1/
"Many of the features are inherited from the G6 and GX7 too, so you get autofocus down to -4EV, focus peaking, timelapse and stop motion modes, manual movie exposures, Wifi, seven-frame bracketing and optional silent operation. Indeed as far as software features are concerned the GM1 is essentially the same as the GX7, only without the tone curves."
Being able to pop the GM1 with something like the a Oly 12mm F2.0 in C-AF mode onto a brushless stabilizer made for a point and shoot should be pretty amazing. The Sailfish SF-1 looks like a good candidate as well:

@grisnjam The Sailfish looks pretty solid… I wrote to Mastor inquiring about availability of their stabilizers, but they couldn't give me any pricing information. Anyhow, they said they wouldn't ship to Vietnam, or something to that effect :( Funny, until the GM1 appeared, I never would have considered buying another "compact" camera…

The camera is impressively compact, smaller than the Pentax Q which features a much smaller compact camera sensor.
The silent shutter enables completely silent shooting (electronic shutter).

GM1+ that SF1 looks like a winning combo for steadicam on the go, hopefully it can replace the GH3 + Minicam combo I currently I have so I can let GH3 stick on monopod/tripod instead.
:-) It is still 2 axis thing that is not steadicam. As it is light your lateral movements will be very visible.
Panasonic Lumix GM1 offers all advantages of a compact system camera, including access to the largest range of lenses for mirrorless cameras.
Being much smaller than other mirrorless cameras, the Panasonic Lumix GM1 doesn't compromise on image quality or features, and delivers advanced features and options.

It's extremely quick to take photos, capturing its first shot within a second of switching on, focusing in around 200ms and capturing a shot every half a second for both JPEGs and RAW. Continuous shooting was at 4.8fps with fixed focus, and managed an impressive 4.2fps with continuous autofocus.
This little camera produces photos that compare well with SLRs' output. Colours were lifelike, with expertly chosen automatic settings and impeccable autofocus performance. Details in JPEGs were crisp and smooth, and the lens performed superbly into the corners of frames.

Hi, can i use this camera with external monitor (av or hdmi)
@simurg You cannot, the external monitor would only work in Playback mode.
