Another little video shot on @Driftwood's incredible Sedna AQ1 hack, with the lovely Voigtländer 25mm f/.95, and starring Isis the dog.
@onionbrain I love this lens, Nikon Nikkor Ai 55mm f1.2, it is very cinematic
sorry - yes it's 55mm f1.2 "Ai" (I also own the 50mm f1.4 AIS - very cinematic and large class).
@MisterBink What Craig_R said is exactly right as far as I know..
All progressive 1080P movie settings in the GH2 are 24P, 25P and 29.97P...thats it.
So 29.97 is the most frames you can get at a true 1080P.
The 720P settings do 50 frames, but the resolution (vert lines etc..) is lower, so even if its rendered at 1080P (Some hacks do that...its simple re size) but the resolution is not as detailed as the true 1080P modes.
Bottom line right now is 24P renders the most detail..period, and 29.97 renders the smoothest motion (but with less detail in general...even if all I frame)
This may change...but thats how it is right now...as far as I understand.
To My knowlage the GH2 Will only do 50 Frames per Second in 720p 1080i has never recorded 50 frames per second it records 50 fields per second. 2 Field per Frame odd and even or (upper and lower) ie Interlaced 25fps. This should not to be confused with 50psf or Progressive segmented frame odd and even line are the same
Still battling to get 50fps on 1080... I'm using Cluster v6 on PAL mode, I go into manual movie mode and select 1080i... But only gining me playback at 25fps. Where am I going wrong? Thanks in advance!
So I tried Nebular GOP6 last night, mostly static shots and a little bit of motion on a combination of panasonic and Nikkor lenses and it looked great. Played in camera well. Today continuing with the shoot, mostly motion same lenses mostly motion moving with wondlan stabilizer and have card read error when I try to play it in cam. I tried other patches that worked well before with no problem, sedna, CM, cake, etc etc and same card read error. I tried both my SanDisk extreme pro 64GB 95mbs and 32GB 30mbs card. Help is greatly appreciated. Thanks.
I've been eyeing that lens forever but never pulled the trigger on it. It's one of the least discussed lenses online. How do you like it?
I didn't know there was an AI-S version. I thought they stopped with the AI version?
@driftwood Thanks, unfortunately I live in PAL-land, but I will give it a try anyways!
CrossfireV3 is incredible good at high iso 5000-10000 if working with 1080 50i and de-interlace (GrassValley De-interlacer). At lower than iso 5000 it is more then incredible. I'm living in PAL land and all corporate productions are usually full of motion (dolly, jib-arm, steady, crane, heli...) so motion resolution comes first. Second all productions must be compatible to broadcast.
We would like to work with 720 50p but than no large preview monitor can be connected.
So our tip if you need broadcast compatibility and highest motion resolution:

@justfake2001 Yep, Unfortunately for us all 24p shares 1080i50/HBR so it means they have to be the same GOP. If youre in NTSC land youre more fortunate as 1080i60 of course is separate. But it does mean you could build a Crossfire with one of the many Intra settings on 24p/50i and have Cluster style 1080i60/HBR30p and 720p50 and 60 patches combined.
