The 501Y.V2 variant, also known as 20H/501Y.V2 (formerly 20C/501Y.V2), B.1.351 lineage and South African COVID-19 variant, is a variant of SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19.

The E484K amino acid change, a receptor-binding-domain (RBD) mutation, was reported to be "associated with escape from neutralising antibodies" which could adversely affect the efficacy of spike protein-dependent COVID vaccines.

If you force and focus on providing the adenovirus based vaccine you effictively start playing on the virus side, as people get immunity always (and mostly!) against host - adenovirus, and due to mutation the immunity for spike protein part is not efficient. Hence you can't give them fixed vaccine.

Thing that we can not see now is how fast the laboratories can offer new virus variants and test them in big scale, such speed can outpace any attempts to make new vaccines. Not only this, but each new variant can make spike proteins more and more similar to native human body proteins, hence making the trap. As vaccine will be causing autoimmune illness that can be more severe than original COVID.

This is why I see situation with flu as very dangerous, as it seems like all labs and distribution channels had been ordered to drop flu this year totally.

Issue with this is that only one (may be two) I remember who made such publication and went out of China worked in HK, had been not very big researcher and was not directly involved with any SARS or similar virus research (compared to hundreds of virus lab researches) and was against CCP before leaving China and supported UK and US measures.

They locked not researcher but totally unrelated to infections doctor who started to spread panic in Wuhan by posting various shit in social networks. This was right move to do.

What proof you need? China officially explained that happened back in time, I just used this info as I remembered it.
