Well, I have a really important question ^^ !! Is anyone know if there will be a firmaware hack for the new GX8, like having ability to increase bitrate, go to 4:2:2 also ?? real stabilisation will recording? Thanks alls !
What is it ¨unlocked G7¨ @DrDave?
An unlocked G7 from Personal View Will make all your video dreams come true :)
For those in Australia: Boxing Day deals on the GX8 with 25mm f/1.7 for $799 (US$580).
What are the differences between the G7 and GX8 for video?
In another monitor I see as very orange, I made another grading more neutral.
I have done a micro test with my GX8.
Just over a month ago I have acquired the GX8, almost everything I've done are stills for a movie, which finished filming now I think to explore the potential of this camera in video and film.
I recorded this short clip with the profile Cinelike D @ 1080 with the Vivitar 28mm F2 lens. The video has no scientific intention, the camera was in mode hand-held and there are several times where I lose focus. I dont know edit, only elementals functions, here spent about 5 minutes in Premiere and we can see the difference between the post clip and the original clip. I come from the GX7 and the GX8 is much better, have more video options such as Cinelike profiles.
Comparison with GX7
At 6400, the GX7 starts to look a little less noisy, but softer, and both sets of files start to color shift with the GX8 shifting cyan and the GX7 shifting magenta in color cast.
Pana Australia have a promotion on the GX8 for this weekend only. AU$778 (USD$560) with the new Lumix 25mm f/1.7 included. https://www.videopro.com.au/p-8842-panasonic-lumix-gx8-mirrorless-camera-body-only-black.aspx
I can confirm that the remote shutter problems I had (with old DMW-RS1 and DMW-RSL1) have been resolved by firmware 2.0 released today.

New firmware v2.0 for G7 and GX8 is out

I have the camera. It works great in low light and I love the way it feels. But with my HVS014014 lens my GH2 with the Sanity Hack makes nicer video than the GX8 (as noted in this forum). I don't see much in the way of promises from Panasonic or any one else that it's going to be much better come the February 2016 lens update. I'm just about ready to send it back because I don't see the advantage I believed I would have.
the lack of videos is probably because so few lenses with work in tandem with the body. Don't know if you've seen this firmware Schedule to enable it on more lens.
It's also possibly due to the fact that the camera isn't all that easy to find in stock.
There has been much discussion about the GX8's dual image stabilization system for HD video with compatible lenses. Are there any videos on YouTube or Vimeo of its successful implementation in a real life situation? There are many video examples for the OMD M5 II. Does Panasonic have one to show off the camera's capabilities, not just videos of how the system works?
