Some more samples here. Sharp images, both in 4k and 1080p:
But no peaking in 4k is a deal breaker for me, much more than the crop factor.

Short summary:
yanouli, nah makes more sense to get the Nikon F mount version instead.
sigma 8-16mm with canon adapter to nx mount...
:-) back focus too short !
Samsung mini NX lenses? :-)
effecttively What lense and mount could be possible for a wide angle ?
no micro 4/3 but olympus 4/3, it is not the same back focus
OLYMPUS 4/3 = 38,67mm
CONTAX / YASHIKA RF = 34,85mm
CONTAX G = 29mm
LEICA M = 27,80mm
SAMSUNG NX = 25,50mm
Micro 4/3 = 19,25mm
Hello, for a wide angle, It is possible to imagine mount a 4/3 lenses OLYMPUS 9-18MM F/4-5.6 (DIA72) EZ
With a adaptor 4/3 to NX mount the angle will be 22,68mm

or a OLYMPUS : ZUIKO DIGITAL ED 7-14mm F4.0 It could be possible no?
But there is still a big gap between the HD and 4K->HD downscaled in post, the latter is noticeably sharper(I think less moire too). So whatever Samsung used in generating of HD for NX1 couldn't be that sophisticated. P.S. I tried both bicubic and lanczos for downscaling and both gave similar results.
Does even NX1 do a full sensor readout for HD video? Given NX1 has a significantly smaller rolling shutter timings, was it due to line skipping or effective pixel binning?
CMOS sensors are actually very complex devices :-) But according to tests it does not make super simple scaling (like binning).
NX500 specs (or restrictions) can originate from anything. Management decision, omission, etc. Early leaks suggest that they searched how to differentiate with NX, and early idea is to lower video resolution. As leaks response where bad - they switched to cropping.

Crop in 4k confirmed in the NX500's korean site (you can use Google Translate to read): http://www.samsung.com/sec/consumer/store-only/store-camera/product/EV-NX500ZAMIKR
1080p have no crop - but no info if it is full sensor readout or not.
Cancelled my pre-order for the NX500. The crop factor at 4k is a the deciding factor. If it turns out to not be the case then I will reorder in the future if it as has a Master Black setting. I would like to use the NX500 on a drone and a gimbal so even though it some who helps me justify my recent NX1 purchase, I would rather take a bit of a loss in NX1 resale value and have another great to at my disposal. I am also interested to see if the NX1 get the same crop factor option and hopefully has enough processing power to make a nice looking image.
Looks like a major difference in Crop, Detail and Dynamic Range, but of course it's only one test and who knows how they did it. Have to wait for more info but that didn't look good IMO.
Major bummer if big crop factor. But not the end of the world as we know it.
