My impression is that is worse than normal, again, just an impression. I think it is again because everything is bogged down.

A good example of the processor load is lockups while recording. If you are using a slower card, the buffers that were intended to handle the overflow at 17mbs, are overwhelmed at 100 and a log jam occurs. 90% of those lockups are not real lockups, and will cure themselves in a little time. Pulling the battery is just faster.

  • @abraham1307 Many thanks for your kind comment, and welcome! :-)

Supposing this ETC issue is common in hacked GH2, I will be going to begin C5.1 next.

  • @Meierhans

"Isn't the bad quality with ETC on when not recording caused by the sensor running in preciew mode? Or is it worse than this nirnal behaviour?"

I am not sure in detail.

@peternap Do you know in detail about it?

  • @peternap I must have overlookde that issue since I don't use 720p that often. Your explanation makes sense. Could be the problem.

  • @bkmcwd, Thank you for being so proactive with the constant updates of these patches I really appreciate the time and effort you put into making a very stable patch for the rest of us. I am using c1.2 and it is simply amazing for what I mostly use is for, it is my favorite patch as of now, and I am sure your later releases will keep getting better!

  • Isn't the bad quality with ETC on when not recording caused by the sensor running in preciew mode? Or is it worse than this nirnal behaviour?

  • @peternap Thanks for the information. It seems that I had overlooked.

  • @Tobsen That's a known issue. My opinion is that the hacks use more processor power and causes the display problem and also slows the autofocus a little. There is just so much processor to work with. You'll also notice that with some settings, lockups are much more common with electronic lenses.

  • @danielvy IMHO, with 444 matrices by Chris, I think that there will be the possibility. Actually, I realize that more resources are assigned to gradation rather than contrast in this matrix.

  • @Tobsen Thanks for information. :-)

I also think the cause is probably firmware of the portion which is not related to hack. I will collect more information.

"Later on, some more tests for image quality..."

    Many thanks for your comment.

  • @bkmcwd Can you help me with a doubt. Is there a posibility that in you incorporate in the new hacks that you are developing some kind of "matrix" or "Curve" that reduces the high contrast of the GH2 image, so we can achieve more alatitude from the native footage. The in post we can put back the contrast... Thanks!

  • @bkmcwd I used the 14-140mm. Interesting stuff...thought I is probably firmware.

First good results: Spanning in HBR, and most probably in 720p50 and 720p50ExTele :) No problems so far Later on, some more tests for image quality...

  • @Tobsen Thanks for feedbacks, mate! :-)

"The preview is totally muddy and unusable to focus with. Once I hit the record button, it suddenly becomes sharp. Is that a known software bug, or maybe something with the settings???"

With which lens did this problem occur? Although it may be a phenomenon which is possibly different, I am also experiencing the same problem with Panny X12-35 repeatedly. If a camera is rebooted once when such, it will return normally in many cases. I do not understand about a cause. However, I thought that the firm of the lens might be the cause. I need to collect information.

  • I started testing c1.2. So far, it looks quite stable in 720p, also in 720pEXTele.

Something strange is happening here in 720pEXTele with the lcd screen. The preview is totally muddy and unusable to focus with. Once I hit the record button, it suddenly becomes sharp. Is that a known software bug, or maybe something with the settings??? I never noticed that before, but honestly, I rarly shoot in 720p....

  • Woops again!!!

@peternap I am too busy rascal. LOL I wait for the new feedback from people.

  • @bkmcwd The lockup was on ver 1.1. I haven't used 1.2 enough to know if it will be stable or not.

  • Woops!

@peternap Many thanks for feedback. :-) I will tweak further more.

  • @bkmcwd >Which card did you use? 60p mode is the most troublesome weak point of GH2.<

    Sandisk 64 gig 95mb

  • @peternap Many thanks for using Valkyrie and report! :-) Screengrabs look pretty good.

"One lockup that required battery removal."

Which card did you use? 60p mode is the most troublesome weak point of GH2.

  • @bkmcwd You're a busy rascal,

I'm too tired to go looking for blue lights tonight but I did drive into town to give 1.2 a quick test. Nikkor 55mm, 2.8 lens, standard -2 ISO 400 24P ET mode

There seems to be a lot less and finer grained noise. Color is very good

  • @bkmcwd 6 hours of videoing today with 1.1 14-140 and 7.5 lens. Bright cloudless sky, Standard -2. All 720p-60

One lockup that required battery removal.

    bkmcwd Valkyrie 444 TYPE-ZERO2 Candidate1.2 'Apocalypse Now' with cbrandin 'Pure Original 444 Matrix' and 'Modified 444 Matrix' - Seta.ini - Released 23/09/2012

"TYPE-ZERO1" released previously was not good in other than 24p. And, previous TYPE-ZERO2 "Candidates1-5" are sometimes not good in IQ or stability. Therefore, I further improved C1 and made Candidate1.2 setting. Probably in this C1.2, the finest noise in candidates of TYPE-ZERO2 will be reproduced. This C1.2 is the setting stabilized more from C1.1.

I reduced artifacts in HBR and 720p, following the pure original matrix of Chris as much as possible.

24p is perfectly the same as TYPE-ZERO1, TYPE-ZERO2C1, and C1.1.

Please try this. And I am very glad if feedback can be got.

    Special thanks to @har_k, @syoushow and @Tobsen! :-)

Of course, thanks to @cbrandin and KING @driftwood!

  • @peternap Thanks for your comment! :-)

Since I release C1.2 now, please also try it.

  • @bkmcwd Sorry, yes 24 P

It was pitch black. You can see where the suspect is only illuminated by the cop's flashlight and only on the cuffs then. The frames are noisy as hell but considering the lighting, I can't imagine otherwise. I'm happy enough with it to keep testing. I'm videoing the slutwalk tomorrow and I'll use 1.1 and Boom.

I can say this, under conditions like tonight, things happening fast, no light, blue lights to one side and flashlights....any image is a good one but this is a lot better than most. I really wish I'd had the Samyang 85mm.

I only had the 7.5 to see how it looked in a moving car with 1.1 which it passed beautifully in 720p 60. That's a major issue with me.

Thanks for testing and report! :-)

Is this in 24p, right? It seems to be a quite dark situation. How do you consider results?
