@fomalhaut3 same here. q20 does span sometimes, but not every time. If you need those high bitrates, and the price is the same, maybe you should get the 95mb/s. You might want to ask at the 95MB/s spanning thread if their cards do span with the new sedna q20.
anybody knows if this is the same as the old sandisk extreme 32gb class 10? if yes, thats really cheap! http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/844762-REG/SanDisk_SDSDU_032G_A11_32GB_SDHC_Memory_Card.html
Anyone tried any of the 633x Delkin Cards? I saw a post where @driftwood was going to try them but have yet to post. For Example: http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/764372-REG/Delkin_Devices_DDSDELITE633_32GB_32GB_SDHC_Memory_Card.html
also ordered the 45mb/s one (im pretty sure its the same as sumo etc) from here.
i was also able to order the old one, but i thought the new one would be better, but in this topic it seems it isn't.
What do you guys suggest me to do? Just keep the 45mb/s one? or just send it back and get the old one instead? If its the same performance its not really worth the hassle to me, but if you guys can tell me that the old one (30mb/s) is better, ill do it.
Thanks
Don't buy memory cards on eBay - tons of fakes there. Stick to SanDisk authorized resellers.
@balazer I see then, I understand what you mean, however, I was wondering, would a (official) 16GB or 32GB 45MB/s card by Sandisk be good enough for recording Sedena Q20 patch???
@GH2_fan Recording—yes. Spanning—unlikely. However, you might get spanning on the lower-detail versions of Sedna matrices (B and C), as they generally yield lower bit rates.
@GH2_fan I use SEDNA on two Sandisk 30Mb/s and it goes like a charm. Not Spanning of course.
i also got the new 45 mb/s scandisk card and for me it does NOT work. 44 mbit vanilla patch installed (not even that high bitrate). Getting the error that the card is too slow when recording outside (bright stuff) after around 1 minute of recording.
Formatted the card in camera
@LongJohnSilver I see, but does the recording halt at random times???
@GH2_fan No, they works flawlessly. I have two Sandisk 16GB 30Mb/s Extreme. One is marked HD video the other just "extreme" and I never got a problem. Of course they not span but it's not a problem for my needs.
@LongJohnSilver Which patches work for you?
I tried Orion v4b at 24H, but around 1:30, I often get an error "card is not fast enough" - something like this. At 24L, it's flawless with spanning.
Sandisk 16GB 30Mb/s Extreme HD
@tinyrobot currently I'm using SEDNA A settings 24p cinema mode or HBR NTSC 30p and it works. I never tried the spanning on real shots beacuse I mainly shot underwater and it's very uncommons having a shot longer than one minute. I've never tried 24L
For the "new" Sandisk 45Mb/s, SEDNA A on 24H works, but no spanning. 24L works with false spanning, i.e. it will span but the last few seconds of the first 4gb chunk will be empty so spanning is effectively useless.
You may want to avoid the "Ultra" cards. Hasn't proved reliable at 66mbs, and fails immediately with the latest Driftwood settings.
Okay, I tried SEDNA A 24H today with my Sandisk 16GB 30Mb/s Extreme HD. No spanning, but the file was intact. Everything looked good.
But! SEDNA A 24L had a strange regular pattern of Intra frame spikes and falls in StreamParser. Anybody else experience this?
SEDNA B 24H and 24L worked well without anything unusual in StreamParser.
@tinyrobot I believe driftwood designed his latest patches specifically for 24H, any other settings have yet to be finalized or tested.
Hummm actually it's sold by Beach Camera. Is it a reliable Sandisk reseller?
Beach Camera is a SanDisk authorized reseller.
Perfect then
I found a good deal on a Sandisk Card at Best buy.. It's an Extreme type card by the way, 30mb class 10....Hopefully this will work well with a high bitrate patch
64Gig 95mb/s SDXC $169.95
Can someone clarify for me what is needed to reliably span clips? Does it have to do with certain patches and does the card need to be sdXC instead of sdHC? Or can it be done with these lower bitrates on sdhc? I have a 16gb sandisk extreme 30MB/s, I recorded 4 gigs of 1080p cinema 24p 150 megabit/s, but it wouldn't span. I'm currently using sedna Q20 verA. Is the 1080 res what is stopping me from spanning or do I need a better card/different patch? Thanks in advance
Spanning depends on what card you're using and what hack settings you're using. SDXC has nothing to do with spanning - it's just the designation of SD cards 64 GB and larger. http://www.personal-view.com/faqs/
Thanks balazer, I found I was able to span sedna with quality set to L instead of H. I'm hoping with the faster card you mentioned, I'll be able to do both
