Interview in Japanese about this camera
It has nothing with hate.
Canon made fully proper move to dual pixel AF. But it added them problems due to next thing.
Yet, they faced huge issue at LSi front, as compact sales dropped too fast. Plus design and manufacturing cost for lower norms are much more expensive. For their system to work good they need good advantage in LSI design over competition, and they just do not have any of this. If they put just more elements into LSI, it becomes too hot to be used, so they cut functions, add crops, etc.
@IronFilm It's like they hate us.
I've been catching up on the latest reports of the new Canon EOS R mirrorless camera.
And it truly is amazing the inventive ways that Canon can come up with to cripple their cameras. As well as the obvious downsides of the EOS R we know about such as its MASSIVE crop in 4K (same as a GH5S basically....), and its MASSIVE amount of rolling shutter, the EOS R also has:
1) no 60fps if you put an EF-S lens on it
2) no zebras once you press record
3) no histogram once you press record
4) C-Log doesn't exist in any mode whatsoever other than fully manual
*Inside - quite usual dated design
