looks like the iphone8 outperform the gph6... lol !
According to this page at B&H the maximum recording bitrate is 60 Mbps or 78 Mbps (in Protune): https://www.bhphotovideo.com/explora/new-go-pro-hero-6
This suggests that GoPro wanted to stay under the 10 MB/s (80 Mbps) minimum guaranteed write speed for Class 10 Micro SD cards.
Initial user report indicates that HEVC (H.265) encoding is only used for the new higher frame rate recording modes (4K @ 60fps, 1080p @ 240fps, 2.7K @ 120fps) and H.264 encoding is used for other recording modes: https://community.gopro.com/t5/Cameras/GoPro-Hero-6-Black-First-Impressions/td-p/64662
Live streaming might come as a software upgrade later.
Stabilization seems wastly improved. Almost like a gimbal.
As rumored the GP1 SOC is made in colloboration with Socionext (partly owned by Panasonic):
"GoPro worked with Socionext (a company with DNA from Fujitsu and Panasonic) to build the GP1 chip to the company's specifications, rather than trying to wrangle the best image it could out of the off-the-shelf Ambarella options. We don't have specific details yet as to what optimization GoPro has done, so we'll need to spend some time with the camera to see for ourselves the difference it makes."

The countdown has started at Gopro.com. 3 days to go.
There is a new gray package for the Hero5 out now.
(the suggested retail price incl. VAT in Germany will be €569):
Today both the "I found the Hero6 in my store" video and the two unboxing the Hero6 videos have been removed from YouTube.
The Yi 4K+ seems to support "live streaming". The Hero6 does not.
Sounds like they've caught up to exactly the same feature set as the Yi 4K+ with really similar limitations - though being waterproof out of the box is nice. I wonder how long it'll take before Yi release a 4K+ variant that has that...
Comments from Frank:
It has been confirmed that the Hero6 (at least for now) maxes out at 240 FPS even in 720p mode.
Must be the worst GoPro leak ever. The only thing missing is a picture of the new Karma Grip with a joystick.
The redesigned "The Handler". Photo leaked from Adorama.
This flyer seems to confirm the previous leaks.
4k60 / 180p240 = 2x performance in marketing talk. Typically GoPro.
Sadly there is just an improved low light situation and not 2x improvement. :-p
Also it confirms Gopros "own" GP1 processor.
