  • Seems like they want to make it work.

  • Having a better NLE inside will help immensely.

  • Complete feature list can be found here: http://www.blackmagicdesign.com/products/davinciresolve/compare

Hope whole system doesn't slow down with these implementations...

  • OpenCL support for multiple AMD GPUs on Windows

Does it mean that you can work on AMD Cards now?

  • Dan Chung has posted an "explainer" video shot in the BMD exhibit:

  • Question is, why do I need other NLE's any more. What remains for them is jugggling with different codecs for final delivery...

How can Adobe, Magix, Sony etc. sell into the prosumer industry when you get the "Lite" Version for free...

  • @tida

Other NLE can do much more :-)

  • @tida

That's a good question. I think there are many different answers, some of which are discussed in this long, 4-part discussion about the "state" of the video editing business:

  • Sounds very interesting. Resolve's performance on many areas is superior when compared to the "competitors in same price range". Basic NLE features may be enough for me, except maybe audio related things are lacking.

  • It looks to me like they're turning it into a finishing solution. Opening OFX will allow for an ecosystem to develop around it. Established NLEs will continue to serve as feeders, but after picture lock Resolve becomes the new hub, instead of just a specialist color tool. Scratch has already gone the same direction, and Smoke will likely open up to OFX in the 2014 release (to be revealed in a month).

  • @shian is the OpenFX adoption going to help you out with ColorGHears at all?

  • Not really. cube LUTs becoming universal across every platform, NLE, etc will.

Somebody just told me there's a TV Logic monitor that will accept cube LUTs, and I was like... GIMME!! Being able to preview the LUT on a monitor separate from what's being recorded is awesome. It really is the best way to go. It kind of idiot proofs cinematography, but at this point I don't even care anymore.

  • Thought it was all in French, but they switched over to English. The demonstration was really impressive. How will DaVinci Resolve 12 look like.....

The structure of the program is just right for more. Even with the new features you get not lost....

  • A nice article about Davinci-Resolve 10 as an online as well as standalone Editor.

    http://www.moviemachine.tv/post/opinion-why-davinci-resolve-10-is-such-a-big-deal/

And a general Overview: Recorded live at the NAB SuperMeet, 9th April, 2013, this demonstration by Alexis Van Hurkman, shows the new features of DaVinci Resolve 10, which will be available in the third quarter of 2013. http://www.moviemachine.tv/video/davinci-resolve-10-demo-nab-supermeet,-april-9,-2013/65433105/

  • Any articles mention a release date?

  • @GravitateMediaGroup I bet they release it before the MFT BMCC.

  • Yep, something around July.

  • Let's hope Resolve 10 has the same pricing structure as 9 - I mean, the free version of Resolve does everything I want it to.

  • @Mark_the_Harp at NAB 2013 they stated several times that Lite version will be for free. Lite version is foreseen to be combined with new pocket camera incl. DVD's. Also look at their website - everything is changed to Version 10 since weeks.

  • Alexis Van Hurkman previews DaVinci Resolve 10 from Blackmagic Design. Taped at the June 2013 LACPUG meet. Even if you saw the Las Vegas SuperMeet presentation you will want to see this one as he shows some great new features that weren't ready at that time. Alexis shows great round trip workflow with Final Cut Pro X but also assures us that DaVinci Resolve 10 is ready for any NLE workflow.

  • Gimme Gimme.

Man, I can't wait for this release. I'm glad that BM actually listens to it's users and implements change. 9 solved a lot of the clunky legacy interface and organization problems I'd been complaining about for years. This adds damn near everything else I've wanted and more.

  • If its pre Alpha now and he mentions Q3 I guess sometime in September before we see it.

  • not only is BMD putting a good bit of pressure on Canon and others in the camera game, before long Apple, Adobe, Sony, and Avid NLE sales may also show some loss.

the new tracking features look AMAZING!
