Canon 50mm f/1.0L
Slightly different 50mm test :-)
10 50mm lenses comparison
A 50mm lens keeps you creative. For the cost, most 50mm 1.8s are insanely good lenses. There is no zoom, there is only you, sou have to frame your images the right way from the right distance. For a portrait, you’ll need to get close, for a cityscape, you’ll have to step back a bit.

Interesting... Hmm...
Rokinon is huge man, the Nikkor 50 is nice and compact (comparitively)
Oh, I saw the 50mm 1.4D reviewed, modern glass.
1.4D? How's manual focus on it and how would you rate the image wide open at night? ...Sigma seems to have better ratings, so it's a bit of a toss up. Thx
My reference point is an article on dxomark comparing 50mm lenses on dx cameras.
Nikkon 50mm 1.5?
Debating between 50mm sigma 1.4, 50mm zeiss 1.4, and olympus 45mm 1.8. Night shooting is extremely important, and I'm also considering potential compatibility with speedbooster. Opinions?
I stumbled upon this lens on local ads: 1,2/55 Porst Color Reflex Auto (Pentax K mount) for 150eur (about 200$). Supposedly in condition: NEW
I have found many contradicting opinions on the web (how unexpected). Does anyone have any first hand experience with this lens?
Just got the Yashica ML 50 1.7. What can I say? My SSC 50 1.4 is up for sale ;) The Yashica has all I wanted: Sharp wide open, smooth bokeh, great colors and just enough contrast to be gradable. Breathing is almost absent and the coating is flare resistant. Focus throw is long and butter smooth. Only downer is that the aperture ring is harder to turn compared to the SSC. But I guess I'll leave it at 1.7 for most of the time :) oh, and is was cheaper than the FD!
