  • I figured out my problem entirely...(after an entire day of internet searching and brain racking) The i.dynamic function on my camera was turned on high. Everything works smoothly after turning it off.

  • @driftwood sir which patch is very very good to blow up @ 2k. i wont use 2k mjpeg which has more noise and doesnt take much detail and color details in a shot. 2k mjpeg is worse than stock 24p 1080p avc.actually my upcoming ad project for a resort company is getting a commercial release. they are gonna project it in a 2k theatre. which patch i should take in this situation which can give me maximum result???

New Quantum v9b or sedna A Aq1 or Mysteron or Mysteron burst or Canis Majoris night. i am looking for 24p.

please suggest me i will wait until u reply to patch my cams back to the suggested one.

    thx

  • @Zaven13

Thank you very much, Z man.

  • @rockroadpix holy sh*t can you share a small clip and settings? ;)

  • @jhero very nice, which sedna did you use?

  • @strancali I'll try to upload something tonight. I may have to wait until the spot is completed and on the air (7/16) due to client issues...

    smooth -2,-1,-2,-1 iso 200 Zeiss 50mm ZF around a 3.4(If I remember correctly)...

  • @strancali One camera was sedna AQ1B and another Orion 4b

  • @jhero nice @rockroadpix great, even if its just a few seconds :)

  • @jhero What lens did you shoot on?

  • @DeShonDixon We used Nokton 25mm and some Canon FD's

  • nobody use the 2K mode for review ?

  • 4Gb Spanning failed on Pictoris v5c (VBR) 24L (40k) mode with Panny 20mm 1.7, Sandisk 64Gb 45Mb/s.

Indoor church, locked shot, very little movement. Smooth -2-2-2-2.

Could I just lower bitrates from 75k to 50k/40k to 25k (Sort of Quantum 50) and keep all others settings? I like the Pictoris matrix look with sharpness -2 on the Panny (Orion matrix?)

Edit: Tried lowering Pictoris to 25k in 24L: looked like shit, blocking and banding all over the place. Gonna try SpanMyBitchUp instead.

  • @driftwood, Hi, I'm some kind newbie here so need some expert info. Start using your patch Cluster v4 for aerial shooting and it is great. But cannot record in HD mode if HDMI cable is attach into GH2 (viewing with goggles what recording). Also test and plugin HDMI into external TV or HDMI monitor with no luck. Is there some limitation in HD rec when using external monitor+HDMI on GH2? Is there some workaround to rec in HD mode. Need rec in .mov 1080p, 25fps :(. Thanks for any info.

  • Should I expect 13 hours on a 64Gb card with SpanMyBitchUp V2b? The bitrate in Ptools 24L is 5000000 (six zeros) yet it looks great! Shouldn't it be 50000000 (7 zeros) i.e. half of 24H?

    Edit: Ah! Trick mode :)

  • Cluster v5 12/15 GOP is now out. Cluster v5 is highly recommended for documentary makers and event specialists requiring high bitrate/very hi quality recordings but still well within the grasp of most SD cards.

Here's a few scenes from Cluster 5's 24p setting from a test event today. Today's footage just 'killed' two camera ops working on Sony EX3s and EX1s. They were stunned at the quality. This is the best Long GOP setting out there right now.

With Cluster v5 (pretty much the same looking as v4 12/15 GOP with even finer tuned PATCH settings, Lotsa days spent going over super-tightening quantisation, 'GOP Related' structure (allocating the balance of memory to odd/even frames), pouring over coded pictures in Elecard Buffer Analysis, checking the quantisation co-efficients in detail with Elecard Streameye Pro, analysing for any fallbacks in Stream Analyser & Streameye Pro, looking at timings, whilst retaining an eye on bitrate bandwidth. Observing the irrelevance of some of the patches in ptoolsfrom other settings... etc... etc...

One day I'll finish my book of Settings but like anytime ask away and I will try to answer any of your questions.

So is Cluster V5 (like 4) 24p just another plain setting...? Take it from me its pretty darn good :-)

This setting is dedicated to drewnetwork!

  • ^ Looks amazing. Very excited to try out Cluster v5. What lens were you using for this event footage?

  • @daisuke Took down 4 GH2s a nokton 0.95, OM 55mm 1.2 Old Olly, Canon 80-200mm 'Magic Drainpipe', a few fast FDs, and the Panny 7-14mm.

  • I like that name, 'Magic Drainpipe'. Where did that spawn from?

  • It looks like a drainpipe... but its razor sharpeness is simply magic. :-) Its a lovely rare lens.

  • @Driftwood Cluster v5 - Globular, Looks like another great setting! Thanks :)

  • @driftwood - many many thanks for Cluster V5. Downloading 'Globular' now - though don't know how it can better the original. It recorded to a 16gig class 4 SD high and low bitrate no problems at all and the images for both are stunning. Great great work.

  • @driftwood - I have a question on Cluster V5 - I noticed the png's posted were 2560 x 1440.

How do I achieve that resolution - is that the mpg setting for Cluster V5 or do I need to alter any additional settings?

Thanks so much - have donated and appreciate the super work!

  • @driftwood , wow, thank you for cluster v5, this works great :-) I reduced a bit bit-rate but it is amazing :-) First is HBR, second is FSH (PAL) very low light ... Also another test:

  • Just a real short promo video for my university. I'm really digging this aesthetic for outside interviews. A lot of my work lately seems to look like this.

Sedna A AQ1, Voigtländer 25mm .95, LCW Fader ND, Røde VideoMic.

Smooth; -2, -2, -2, -2; +15 sharpening in Premiere. Colorized in Magic Bullet Looks.

Something about the combination of Sedna with the Voigtländer at 1.2 or 1.4 and the Smooth -2 x4 picture style with sharpening in post seems to make talking head shots "pop" in a way that I haven't ever seen before. All of my clients so far love it!

  • @Sangye Great job that was sharp af!!
