Do I live in a cave, or did they skip the GF4?
4 means "death" phonetically I believe in Chinese. Also, look how well the FIVE D did, so I mean Hey - why not?

lol at the 4 means death crap, they should have stuffed GH2 innards in GH4 and priced it at GH3 levels, it would have been "death" for the competition... I guess we have the same crap in the USA, no 13th floors in hi rises and black cats and ladders.. so silly
Yes 4 means death in Japan, kinda how hotels some places don't have 13th floors. I had a nice conversation about this just yesterday since I came across these at softmap in tokyo. I was with the misses on a promise I was only checking one thing, so I didn't have time to fiddle with the controls to see what was all there.. plus it's always tricky trying to guess through the Kanji menu. I will try to get a better look soon.
Small video made with GF5
Do we know for sure yet if the GF5 supports manual exposure for video? (in the way that the GF2 does not) If there is now way to control ISO, iris, and shutter speed manually (all at the same time) then we still have a show-stopper here, IMHO.
Workarounds requiring 1/60 shutter speed and manual lenses and hard limit ISO 100 settings, and not even pseudo-manual. Manual control means that I get to choose. Not the workaround. Not the computer.
(Do we really think that Panny is afraid of too many tech support calls from people that try to use manual exposure and don't like the results? Why would that be a bigger issue for video than for stills?)
Why do they go to such great lengths to say "full manual control" without an asterisk pointing to the fine print saying "stills only?" They do a perfectly good job of qualifying the "1080 60i* (sensor output is 30fps)" bit.
...and on the 4=death bit: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tetraphobia This appears to apply to Chinese, Japanese, Korean and Vietnamese.

GF5 has the best looking color rendering and the best color noise reduction. Disturbingly impressive. See those OOC JPG photos without any post-processing. Photos by Oh Sun Kwon.
G5, GH3, etc would be quite nice, too. I wish Panasonic updates GX1 firmware...
Btw, GF5 is next in line after G3 and GX1 release.
Wow... GF5. I can't find color noise from those original jpgs. Panasonic did superb job.

As I said, screen alone cost it. Add UNI loupe and it is very usable camera without VF.
Btw, GF5 is on the way to me. So, as with previous cam we'll have donations compain going afterwards :-)
The high-res LCD + UNI loupe sound great.
Yeah you will like photos from GF5. I know Pentax K-5 guy who likes GF5 a lot. He said its auto WB works fantastic, and color noise processing at high ISO is excellent. And color... finally beautiful color out of the body without much tweaking.
Got the body :-)
Looks like good GF3 improvement. Much better screen. Also improved UI (much better for touch)
Can you get the factory firmware 1080i show up as 25p in the editor or does that need hacking and/or re-wrapping of any kind?
I need to get a GF5 in a week to shoot B-rolls with my FlowMotion 2.02 -hacked GH2.
Thaks for the advice!
Sorry if my question sounds a bit dumb .. but the "official specs" of GF5´s factory firmware video setting seem to be yet somewhat unclear and contradictory. Some say it is 1080i some 1080p .. depends on where you look.
1080i50 avchd, 1080p25 mp4
Same as GX1.
Ok, fair enough, thnx. But what about the "25p output" or in "25p wrapper" -thing (in AVCHD) mentioned here´n´n there?
Anyone has shot mp4 much? Does it go well edited with AVCHD? Somewhere I saw mentioned that it is somewhat less detailed...?
My main tool is GH2 but I loved my GF2 too - which did pretty well as a B-roll cam, until the unfortunate hack threw cold water on it. Looking at the early tests GF5 could do much better, specially with the somewhat glutinous AF - specially compared to GH2. I shoot mainly moving things/people, and I move my cam most of the time, and GH2 is a beast on that specially with f 2 - f 2.8 lenses,
