Wow, I had just been exchanging emails with a rep at Voigtlander about a need for a wide, fast prime. She said they'd be announcing something within that week (this was last week) in their newsletter and online, but they never did.
I had been hoping it'd be either 12 or 15mm, but I think 17mm should do fine. This thing is going to sell fast. Long wait ahead.
+1. Hopefully 12mm is in the pipeline.
Yeah I would rather have a 12mm. This is actually 17.5mm.
I've held out on the 25mm... but this... I wouldn't be able to resist. Can't wait.
Gonna be shooting a short this summer mostly night shuts and I was looking for a fast wide. A 17.5 or 12mm f0.95 will be just what I need. This is definetly gonna sell like hot cake!
A 35mm equivalent sounds pretty nice. The whole point of of me using m4/3 is because I believed that they will have fast glass in a compact package. Voigtlander here is getting it right.
+1 Very Nice!! Gorgeous.
Fantastic news.
Superb. Now, this will be costly - because what held me back from investing in the 25mm is that there was only one.. :)
WOW. Must have. This will be the absolute perfect lens to use with a LA7200.
Though I think it's great Voigtlander is coming out with a wider lens I think I'm going to stick with my plan and get the 12mm SLR Magic instead.
17mm would be 1299 euros = 1700 usd.
I'm sure Nokton 12mm, if they make one, will be more expensive. I'll keep 14mm 2.5 haha.
I'm just happy to know that they are making a lens to go with the 25mm. Let's be honest, it is the most amazing lens for GH2, but it is a tough cookie to match a bag of lenses to. Hopefully they make one more besides this 17mm.
B3guy plenty of M mount Voigtlanders will match the 25mm.
Damn, that's going to be tough to resist.
I've been wanting a 35mm equivalent and this has me highly interested...
too expensive for me!
That dual mode aperture ring (step and stepless) is a brilliant idea ! It would be great if they could make a 2nd version of the 25mm with that feature.
Perfect this.. will even fit with my wd-58 wide angle adapter! :)
@RRRR have you used the WD-58 on the 25mm at all? If so, how does it hold up? (The WD-58 does distort the image, correct?)
@B3Guy, sorry I have not.. I still don't have the 25mm voigt. But i think it should perform relatively well with the 25mm; on a 35mm flektogon it seems to work flawlessly (with very little distortion / image deterioration). So I doubt 25mm is pushing it too far.
I used to have a WD-58 for my Canon GL2 . . . I seem to recall that it caused some fisheye.
@B3Guy: we'll there is a very slight barrel distortion, however - it is no more than many wide angle lenses.. It should be easy to correct if the scene requires.
Nokton lenses including 17mm 0.95 at CP+2012. Definitely bigger 25mm 0.95.
A review. It seems useable at 0.95. Good CA control at 1.4. Nice.
