Government is doing everything possible to destroy fleet of non electric cars. From fake deficits to special programs to promote electric cars.

Someone said that they calculated with rising costs, their electric vehicle is going to cost more now to run per mile than the petrol version!

Real issue is lack of any electricity reserves.
Note that as many UK firms are going to work at nights the price of electricity during such hours will skyrocket.
