  • The new Enduro Battery features revolutionary technology that dramatically improves your HERO10 or HERO9’s performance in cold temperatures while extending recording times by up to 40% in normal conditions.

Faster charging: Reduces the time needed to get a full charge by up to 13% over standard GoPro batteries.

    Enduro is coming November 30.

  • HERO10 Black's new firmware update, slated for release by end of October, introduces three "Video Performance Modes" that make it easy to maximize your HERO10's performance depending on your use case:

    • Maximum Video Performance – Maximum resolution and frame rates for the very best image quality and ultra-slow-motion video.
    • Extended Battery – Optimal resolutions and frame rates for the longest possible video recording times and maximum battery life.
    • Tripod / Stationary Video — Optimized for recording long video clips at the highest resolutions and frame rates when the camera is stationary without motion or airflow to cool the camera. GPS and HyperSmooth video stabilization are turned OFF in this mode.

The following is what users can expect to achieve, on average, in Tripod / Stationary Video mode when recording a single continuous clip at a temperature of 77F / 25C in static situations without movement or airflow to cool the camera:

    • 5.3K60 – 47% more runtime than previous for an average of 29 minute-long clips
    • 5.3K30 – 11% more runtime than previous for an average of 44 minute-long clips
    • 4K120 – 52% more runtime than previous for an average of 26 minute-long clips
    • 4K60 – 154% more runtime than previous for an average of 63 minute-long clips
    • 4K30 – 35% more runtime than previous for an average of 50 minute-long clips

A future firmware update will enable even longer clip lengths in 5.3K30 and 4K30. And if important for your use case, 2.7K and 1080p will enable even longer single clip recording times than above in either Extended Battery or Maximum Video Performance modes.

The HERO10 firmware update will be available by the end of October and HERO10 Black owners can update their cameras using the Quik app.

  • The new Enduro battery will sell for $24.99. Of course, those who got the (free) subscription will pay 20% less...

  • Really nice announcements.

Thanks @EspenB for keeping us up to speed.

For new Enduro battery ($24.99) GoPro states it will extend recording times to an average of 56 minutes of 5.3K/60 video at 14F/-10C. When used at moderate temperatures, 5.3K/60 shots should see a boost of 28 percent in duration while 4K/120 videos will enjoy a 40 percent improvement in record time

[little announcement] Quick preview of what is coming in ReelSteady 2.0

We at GoPro have a very exciting announcement for ReelSteady users here on Reddit, and we wanted to let you know what we have been working on. The rumors are true, we have been hard at work on ReelSteady 2.0, and listening RS users to bring some much needed updates. Here are some of the highlights:

Brand new user interface. ReelSteady 2.0 is now fully integrated into the GoPro Player desktop app for unmatched usability and performance.

Support for all GoPro shooting modes including videos with HyperSmooth on.

Real time playback. View the full-quality stabilized motion as soon as your video loads.

Batch rendering. Export all your stabilized videos in one go.

Advanced encoding options. Fine control over professional export formats.

Aspect ratio options. Output in a variety of popular formats including 16:9, 4:3, 1:1, and more.

Saving of settings and preferences. Auto-apply your go-to stabilization settings to every video you open.

Adjustable lens correction. Choose exactly how much fisheye you want in your final output.

Fully optimized for Apple Silicon (M1, M1 Pro/Max)

We are very excited to get this into your hands as soon as possible. We are currently working on a plan to open this to a private beta in December.

Unfortunately we cannot, at this point, discuss anything else about the project regarding pricing, availability, etc, however just know we love this community!

Here's a video showing what ReelSteady looks like when applied on top of a HyperSmooth-d video:

  • Apparently firmware 1.15 was released last friday (october 29) and then quickly recalled after it crashed the camera.

    https://community.gopro.com/t5/Cameras/HERO10-Black-Firmware-1-15-We-are-aware-of-the-issue-and-are/td-p/1307522

We are aware of the automatic rebooting issue with firmware version 1.15 and are working on a resolution.

In the meantime, you may manually "update" (revert back) to v1.10 and then do the factory reset in the camera following the steps in this video.

Once again GoPro is using customers as beta testers.

Maybe they simply should revert to a 24 month product cycle and fix their firmware before selling new crap.

  • The Hero 10 does not need any of this new firmware, if you know how to change settings and what they do.

  • Firmware 1.16 with the above features and bug fixed now ready:

  • @markr041

The Hero 10 does not need any of this new firmware, if you know how to change settings and what they do.

Apparently there was more important to add a tripod mode for people who can not turn off stabilisation themselves, than make the MAX lens mode and other resolutions/fps work again.

As for the 1.15 vs 1.16, some people still report issues.

  • Firmware 1.16 issue - camera turns off intermediately after battery falls below 50 per cent.

The new beta seems less beta then the previous 1.16 update. Not to mention 1.15. :-p

Officially the 1.2 update has been postponed until sometime in december.
