This guy is not dumb reseller. He understand that he is doing and you can even ask him to make or try to get other gear.
@stonebat If you are ok without 360 degrees, such gears are available at aliexpress, a I remember. They are similar to yours, but locking is small and flat.
The revered gear works fine. The FF gear can handle the pancake. It's the lens gear with the screw lock that bumps into the hand grip. It's just a tad bit too tall.
This isn't a showstopper for me as I'm planning to trade 20.7 for PL 25.4. But those of u who wanna use the pancake... find another lens gear.
Forgive me, I'm new at follow focus stuff. What do we mean by "amount of play in gear box" and how does it affect focusing in real world? Does it mean if I rack focus from Point A to Point B, the gear will not stop exactly on Point B, instead it will shift a few millimeters in distance?
I don't want to sound too negative, but are people not going a bit too overboard here until we have some good feedback from someone who has a copy to test. I mean it is not just how much it looks but more so how it function that is important for a follow focus. Until now we don't know how much play in the gearbox, construction etc. Just the play could change it from the best bargain to unusable sh...t. I am for a drastic decrease in the cost of dslr/cine gear but a follow focus needs much more precision than a support rig and for me it is better to wait for feedback.
Interesting.... I just heard back from Marketcreative, "CarrySpeed", regarding jinfinance having an identical rig.
"I know this company, they ordered from us acutally, they don't have in stock yet, since our products not ready yet, so don't worry, I will keep the best quality ones for myself. that guy pre-order from us and list the picture there."
I think I like the CarrySpeed red better than the blue and I like their woven rods better too. What I don't like is the way the camera seems to dip forward in the pics.
