New Webcam Utility Software for Nikon Cameras
In August, Nikon will release a beta version of the Webcam Utility software for many Nikon DSLR and Z series mirrorless cameras, including the new Z 5. Initially available for Windows 10, the free software will allow compatible Nikon cameras to be used as webcams. Nikon India Pvt. Ltd. 100% subsidiary of Nikon Corporation Tokyo, is in plans to release the beta version of Webcam Utility*, a software that allows a Nikon mirrorless or D-SLR camera to be used as a high-quality option of a webcam in early August 2020.
In response to the demand for high-quality video conferences as online meetings have become increasingly common, Webcam Utility has been developed to enable users to use their existing Nikon mirrorless or DSLR camera as a webcam.
By simply installing the Webcam Utility software, currently compatible with the Windows OS, to a computer* and connecting the compatible Nikon mirrorless or DSLR camera to the computer via a USB cable, users can enjoy the superior image quality of their Nikon camera for online meetings. In addition, with the vast range of available NIKKOR lenses, users will also have the flexibility in choosing their preferred image angle and be benefited by the lenses’ beautiful bokeh and renowned sharpness.

Compatible now with
macOS Big Sur and Apple M1 version released
On December 17, Nikon released the latest version of its software "Webcam Utility" (Mac version) that turns its camera into a webcam. The version number is Ver.1.0.1.
The updated software is compatible with the new Mac OS "macOS 11.0 Big Sur" and Apple Silicon (SoC "M1"). If you use the universal version of Google Chrome on an M1 equipped model, the software will work natively.
The official version of Webcam Utility will be released on November 4th. Currently compatible cameras are Z 7II, Z 7, Z 6II, Z 6, Z 5, Z 50 for mirrorless cameras, D6, D5, D850, D810, D780, D750, D500, D7500, D7200 for digital single-lens reflex cameras. , D5600, D5500, D5300, D3500 (common to both Windows and Mac versions). Mirrorless cameras and digital single-lens reflex cameras to be released in the future are also planned to be supported.
