NAB 2020 Topic
  • NAB Show is the premier event driving the evolution of media and entertainment. It is an engine for commerce and a critical launchpad for products and services expected to revolutionize the business. The convention’s 1,600 exhibitors and 90,000 attendees rely on the annual NAB Show to raise their profile and meet business goals.

While the NAB stands firm in its commitment to hold the convention as planned, the health and safety of attendees and participants are NAB’s top priority. To that end, NAB is dedicated to providing rapid responses and assistance in support of the global NAB Show community’s participation plans. The event management team has launched a COVID-19 resource page on the NAB Show website, where updates will be provided.

    Currently, NAB is:

    • Adhering to all guidance and recommended safety measures issued by the World Health Organization and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), as well as state and local health organizations.
    • Working with the Las Vegas Convention Center, the airport authority, and area hotels and resorts to coordinate appropriate safety procedures.
    • Following CDC recommendations and protocols for heightened levels of cleanliness at event facilities.
    • Making accommodations and actively encouraging attendees to take common-sense precautions and follow CDC guidelines to prevent the spread of illness.
    • Ensuring medical care is readily accessible to address immediate health concerns.
    • Working with China-based exhibitors and registered attendees to evaluate options for those unable to attend due to travel restrictions. Of note, NAB Show attendance from China, although growing, represented less than 2 percent of total registered attendees in 2019.
    • NAB is taking COVID-19 very seriously and is fully invested and prepared to host a successful NAB Show in Las Vegas. The city of Las Vegas is maintaining rigorous cleanliness and safety standards throughout public spaces, resorts and meeting facilities, and hosts successful trade events daily. Meanwhile, NAB Show has experienced an uptick in exhibit sales, attendee registration and hotel bookings in recent weeks, and conference program speakers are confirmed daily.

  • Even though I was not planning on going. I could see why this situation may make people think twice about going to NAB. But that said, regardless, it is a good time for companies to release new products for broadcast, even if show attendance is way down.

  • It is with a heavy heart that AJA is withdrawing from the NAB 2020 show in Las Vegas due to the risks from the Coronavirus. We have made this decision out of an abundance of caution for the health and safety of our employees and partners worldwide.

While we will miss gathering with our friends and colleagues from around the world, AJA remains fully committed to transitioning all of our planned NAB events (product announcements and demos, channel partner meeting and press conference) to web-based video conferences. We have exciting product news to share, and we look forward to bringing those products to market as planned.

  • Nikon and MRMC Will Not Participate in NAB 2020 Due to COVID-19

MELVILLE, NY – Nikon's first priority is always the health and safety of our employees, partners and customers. As we continue to closely monitor and gauge the impact of COVID-19, Nikon Inc. and MRMC, a Nikon Group company, have made the decision not to participate in NAB 2020. We will continue to closely evaluate our travel policies, programs and activities to mitigate risk.

  • Chinese Feelworld/Seetec also cancelled participation today.

  • Zaxcom also leaving.

Zaxcom Withdrawing from NAB 2020 Due To Covid-19

Zaxcom is sad to announce their withdrawal from the NAB 2020 show in Las Vegas due to the risks from the Coronavirus, Covid-19. This difficult decision was made as a precaution to keep everyone involved as safe and healthy as possible.

Zaxcom has participated in NAB for over 30 consecutive years. “We greatly look forward to seeing our colleagues and friends from all over the world and will greatly miss that without a physical presence at this year’s show,” said Colleen Goodsir, Director of Sales & Marketing from Zaxcom.

  • Adobe Withdraws from NAB Show 2020

Each year, we look forward to seeing our video community at NAB to talk about the latest trends and our product innovations. Over the past few weeks, we have been closely monitoring and evaluating the situation around COVID-19 and have made the difficult but important decision to cancel our presence at the show this year.

While we are disappointed, the health and safety of our employees, customers and partners are always our priority. We look forward to engaging with our NAB community through a digital experience in the near future.

Adobe and Nikon withdrawing from the NAB Show follow on the heels of the annual CP+2020 show in Japan being canceled at the end of February. The impact of COVID-19 has been felt outside of the realm of tradeshows as well, with the virus affecting the supply chains for camera manufacturers. Nikon has just announced that the release of the Nikon D6 flagship DSLR camera has been delayed from this month until May. Canon has proactively suspended production at three of its plants in Japan.

The COVID-19 coronavirus has already had a large impact on industries around the world, including the photo industry, and companies are working hard to mitigate the risk for their employees. As governments and health agencies around the world work to better understand and contain COVID-19, it is difficult to predict the extent of the impact that the virus will have on the photo industry, but it's safe to expect today's announcement from Adobe is not the last of its kind we will hear in the coming weeks and months.

  • NAB Show Status

The health and safety of our show community remains our top priority. As of now, we are moving forward with NAB Show, while continuing to evaluate the national and international situation carefully.

In light of confirmed cases of COVID-19 coronavirus in Nevada, we have reached out to local public health officials, the convention center, and other partners on the ground to assess the situation and determine their increased protocols for the health and safety of Show guests. As we receive additional details, we will update this website and communicate with all our guests and partners.

    Changes to The Show

As of now, we are moving forward responsibly with NAB Show. We continue to take our direction from global, federal, and local health officials, like the WHO and CDC, which do not have travel notices or restrictions on public gatherings for the continental US.

We understand there are exhibitors and participants that may decide not to attend this year’s show and respect everyone’s desire to do what they believe is best. Over the last several weeks, we’ve heard from many exhibitors and attendees who are excited about driving our industry and their businesses forward, and we are striving to put on a show that will provide them this platform, while being mindful of the ongoing concerns regarding coronavirus. In fact, about 96% of our exhibitors are still planning to attend and of the 4% that are no longer attending, more than 80% are from China and unable to attend due to travel restrictions.

We share in the disappointment of show community members who are affected by travel restrictions due to coronavirus (COVID-19) and cannot join us in person this year. We are in contact with the exhibitors and attendees who are impacted by travel restrictions and working with them on options so they can, where possible, experience some of the benefits of the show and add value to in-person attendees remotely.

  • WD also pulled out.

“The health and safety of our employees is a top priority for Western Digital. Due to concerns regarding the coronavirus, we have taken the precautionary measure to withdraw from participating in NAB 2020.”

  • **NAB Cancelled**

    Dear NAB Show community,

As you know, we have been carefully monitoring coronavirus developments both domestically and globally over the past few weeks.

In the interest of addressing the health and safety concerns of our stakeholders and in consultation with partners throughout the media and entertainment industry, we have decided not to move forward with NAB Show in April. We are currently considering a number of potential alternatives to create the best possible experience for our community.

This was not an easy decision. Fortunately, we did not have to make this decision alone, and are grateful to our NAB Show community for engaging with us as we grappled with the rapidly-evolving situation. This Show is as much yours as it is ours, and it is important to us that we move forward together.

For nearly 100 years, NAB Show has provided superior value and the best possible experience for exhibitors and attendees. We knew that if we could not deliver on those expectations, we would not move forward. More importantly, keeping the community safe and healthy is NAB’s highest priority; therefore, we are deferring to the developing consensus from public health authorities on the challenges posed by coronavirus.

We are still weighing the best potential path forward, and we ask you for your patience as we do so. We are committed to exploring all possible alternatives so that we can provide a productive setting where the industry can engage with the latest technology, hear from industry thought leaders and make the game-changing connections that drive our industry forward.

I want to stress that despite our disappointment at how this year’s Show has been impacted by global public health concerns, we are more excited than ever about the future of NAB Show and our relationship with you.

We are grateful for each and every member of our Show community. It is your passion for the industry that makes NAB Show a success year after year, and it is that same passion that will drive us into the future as we look ahead to new possibilities later this year and beyond.

    Sincerely,

    Gordon H. Smith
    President and CEO

  • Nooooooooooooooo.............. ! What now? When/where/how will all the big NAB announcements? I bet many will just be delayed until after NAB anyway, due to many companies' supply chains being stretched to breaking point and experiencing product delay launches for shipment

  • Sony ‘s Press Conference for NAB now Rescheduled to Monday April 20th 9:00 am PST

Sony continues daily monitoring of the evolving situation around the spread of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) which has seen an escalation globally and, as such, is taking various precautionary measures.

As we place the utmost importance on the safety and wellbeing of our employees, partners and industry colleagues, we support the difficult but important decision from National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) Show 2020 (https://nabshow.com/2020/attend/onsite-services/coronavirus-update-and-resources/) to no longer hold the Las Vegas conference in April.

We are eager to share our innovations with the NAB community digitally via press conference time of 9:00am PST on Monday April 20, 2020.

Sony would like to thank the community of innovators for their understanding and ongoing support during these challenging times. Our thoughts remain with those who are suffering from this tragedy.

To stay updated, please follow @sonyelectronics and please visit https://pro.sony/event-nab for future update.

  • In light of the current circumstances, it is impossible to hold a rescheduled 2020 NAB Show this year. We will instead proceed with a two-pronged approach to deliver as much value as possible under these circumstances to our exhibitors, partners, and the broadcast industry as a whole.

We are exploring a number of ways to bring the industry together online, both in the short and long term. We know from many years of serving the community with face-to-face events, that connectivity is vital to the health and success of the industry. That’s why we are excited to announce NAB Show Express, targeted to launch in April 2020. This digital experience will provide a conduit for our exhibitors to share product information, announcements and demos, as well as deliver educational content from the original selection of programming slated for the live show in Las Vegas, and create opportunities for the community to interact virtually—all of which adds up to something that brings the NAB Show community together in a new way.

Second, we will be enhancing NAB Show New York with new programs, partners, and experiences. We have already had numerous conversations with show partners about expanding their participation, and have heard from numerous exhibitors interested in enhancing their presence at this fall’s show. NAB Show New York represents the best opportunity for companies to announce and showcase their latest innovations and comes at a perfect time for the industry to gather face-to-face to restart, refocus, and reengage as we move forward together.
