Top Android Smartphones for video, with 4K, stabilization and HDR
  • Primary requirements for smartphone for being in this topic

    • 4K 30fps, good bitrate, preferable HEVC mode option
    • 4K 60fps, good bitrate, preferable HEVC mode option
    • OIS on main camera at least
    • EIS, and good one, for all video modes, including 1080p60 and 4Kp60
    • Sensor shift stabilization, rumored to be in new smartphones later in 2020 and early 2021
    • Proper HDR implementation
    • Preferably Dual Pixel AF (analog of Canon approach)

    Nice things to have

    • USB-C with at least USB 3.0 speed, preferably with USB 3.2 Gen 2
    • MicroSD U3 card support up to 512GB, it is always better to have support for card even if 128Gb only

    Chipsets to look for

    • Snapdragon 845 on most phones lacks EIS in 4K60fps
    • Snapdragon 855 and 855 Plus
    • Snapdragon 865
    • Snapdragon 865 Plus, coming
    • Snapdragon 630, 632, 660, 662, 665, 670, 675 - no 4K 60fps recording, stab usually don't work in 4K at all, EIS in 1080p30 on most phones only
    • Snapdragon 710, 712, 720, 730, 765 - no 4K 60fps recording, stab usually don't work in 4K at all, EIS in 1080p30 on most phones only
    • HiSilicon Kirin 980 - no 4K 60fps recording
    • Exynos 990 - Samsung alternative to Snapdragon 865
