On some markets drop reached around 40% compared to year ago.
Dealers expect Apple to target super premium rich owners niche in 2019, and move to ARM proprietary solution in around 2020.
In 2019 apple will have few price hikes on notebooks accompanied with more significant service price hikes and restrictions.
It is also expected that FCP X will have another major overhaul making it more like FCP X 10 II by removing many features and adding special simplified mode made ala iPad apps for rich casual users. As this version will also work on top of the line iPad Pros at the time (due to move to new iOS like OS for Macs).
Sold my old Macbook Pro and never want Apple again. Looking at Xiaomi but little afraid :).
Uh some fake news title lol
It is true reports, leaks and rumors title. Thing will become obvious later in 2019, but PV values is that I give you some head start.
I’ve read countless articles about the move to ARM but nothing about going out of the notebook market.
It is like to say - "I see here 2, plus and 2. But why you keep telling me about some 4" :-)
Because in addition to reading "countless articles" you need to also read articles on that happens in service approach, that happens on APIs and software, read report on market above and talk little to dealers.
Apple’s iconic hardware unit growth is broadly over for now. Revenues are only supported by higher selling prices and by the development of services. Flat unit growth has hit Apple’s share price and incidentally its key suppliers. What has made the success of Apple, a concentrated portfolio of highly desirable (and pricy) products is now facing the reality of market saturation.

They will switch Macs to their self-developed A... chips, starting with portable Macs and iMacs, and likely merge iOS and macOS in the process. (They're already the same core OS, so it's mostly a matter of unifying the user interface.) In the same process, they'll likely develop a hybrid/joint successor of both the iPad Pro and the Macbook, probably a tablet with a detachable keyboard.
Next they'll also need to get around physics laws. As far as we can see from all last product physics laws win in match with Apple designers for this round :-)
Gerard Williams III, senior director in platform architecture, departed Apple last month after nine years, according to a person familiar with the matter.
Williams led development of every Apple processor core from the A7 -- the first 64-bit processor for mobile devices -- to the A12X, the chip powering Apple's latest iPad Pro devices.
Guy is very smart as he knows issues in chip industry and left at the best moment to not see Apple failure with ARM plan.
The biggest change coming to the Mac this year is the ability for iPad apps to run on laptops and desktops.
Apple will allow developers who write iPad apps to re-work their apps so the software can also run on the Mac.
For now it is among first steps, move to iPad style apps will be much more visible next year.
Apple is planning to expand the feature so iPhone apps can run on the Mac by next year. The year after that, the company aims to merge iPhone, iPad, and Mac applications into single downloads that can run on any Apple device. Eventually, it could also merge the App Stores.
Yet Apple never had so many discounts, refurbished sales, etc
Plus marketing machine paired with trends algorithms is still super strong.
Look for any reviewers, views you can get for reviews of any MacBook alternative is usually 10-30% compared to Apple product. Thanks for big recognition and very good fit in big trends.
