X-Rite ColorMunki Accurate Monitor Display Calibration, USB Powered - Limited Edition Pink
First, it is proper (pink) color gear.
Second, it is very good gear, recommend one.
Very accurate, used now in PV lab for monitors panels tests.
I ordered this through the link. This pink thing will be added to my blue Zoom H1 ($64) that I also purchased due to an alert here. I look forward to the orange GH5 at a great price.
We had heated discussion with Panasonic considering pink version of their flagman cameras. Top management is very afraid of this idea. Some local offices find it fun.
Is the cheaper version X-Rite ColorMunki Smile any good? (It costs arround 95 EUR, I can't find the pink version here in Germany)

Well, yes. It'll still be useful for long years to come anyway. And you have no idea now accurate monitor is.
ok, ill grab one, thanks,
@vitaly is the accuracy the same between the munki and the x rite i1 display pro?
@rheinpirat The i1 display pro is supposed to be a step up from the munki, according to xrite.
Inside they are exactly same. They made small switch to reduce readout speed of cheaper device. All else is 100% equal.
^^^ Good to know... :)
thanks
Month ago I borrowed i1 display pro, and I'm very satisfied, specially between monitors, one being wide gamut 10 bit screen, and another 8bit standard, but the thing just did the job. If it is same under the hood as the munki, as Vitaliy says, I recommend.
Note that they also have kit with passport
Guys just got it in today in mail, been trying to understand why im getting this "unable to set LUT. (-87)" error, i tried to calibrate the Benq i got last week, no luck, i tried the latest update for the colormunki software and no luck, after calibration finishes and hit save i get this error, any ideas?

One. Use https://displaycal.net/
You error can be caused by software trying to set monitor hardware LUT, but being unable to do it.
VK I installed display cal standalone, but it gives me an error when i start calibration "error-new disprd() failed with 'instrument Access Failed" error. in instrument menu i do see it has the colormunki display
Most probably issue is still some original software running.
Oh k ,I'll delete original software
I got the ColorMunki - thanks for the info, works very good, especially in getting display with different lighting technologies to look as similar as possible. Just one question:
I used the X-Rite software to generate a display profile in OSX for every monitor and then just swithched to that profile in the system preferences/monitors. Everything works fine. Would there be any benefit in using the DisplayCal software instead the X-Rite software?

Well, if after calibration you have good results, it is good results. May be they will be better, may be worse with other software.
