Nikon DL 24-85mm
Nikon DL 18-50mm
Nikon DL 24-500mm
Nikon should just abandon video lol
I think Nikon has little to do with it. Sony moves to new 1" sensors this spring, so they need to completely redesign cameras.
I was actually interested in these cameras. I thought it was a good idea for Nikon. Oh well.
Sad news.
cracker company gonna sell used half priced bread
Nikon Corporation announced today that sales of the long-awaited DL series of premium compact camera, the DL18-50 f/1.8-2.8, DL24-85 f/1.8-2.8, and DL24-500 f/2.8-5.6, will be canceled.
A June, 2016 release was originally planned for the DL series. However, with the identification of issues with the integrated circuit for image processing, release of the three cameras was delayed indeterminately.
Since then, everyone involved has worked very hard to develop products with which our customers will be satisfied. However, it has been decided that sales of the DL series will be canceled due to concerns regarding their profitability considering the increase in development costs, and the drop in the number of expected sales due to the slow-down of the market.
We sincerely apologize to all those affected by this decision, especially those customers who waited so long for the cameras to be released, retailers and others whose business will be affected, for the inconvenience this decision may cause.
Poor cameras died in womb.
too weird !
Cameras are totally absent at Photokina

Thank you for contacting Nikon regarding the premium compact cameras, Nikon DL18-50 f/1.8-2.8, DL24-85 f/1.8-2.8, and DL24-500 f/2.8-5.6. As indicated in our press release on April 20, the DL series will be delayed due to the effects of the 2016 Kumamoto earthquakes and serious issues with the integrated circuit for image processing built into the three new premium compact cameras. These cameras were originally scheduled for a June 2016 release.
The new release date has yet to be determined and we will announce the information as soon as it is decided.
Rumors. New release date for the DL cameras is January 17th, 2017.
Nikon have nothing to do with it. It is mostly Sony who hid all issues with their plant and continue to do so.
New shipping data is around October. They soon can reach Black Magic level of delays :-)
Now date changed to June 30th, or may be in reality it is just made up to cover delays.
I think issues come from cuts in engineers numbers. Sony had issues with a6300, now all this with Nikon across many of their products.
"serious issues"...the processor...wow, that's a first ! redesign team ...welcome aboard !
Nikon DL18-50 f/1.8-2.8, DL24-85 f/1.8-2.8, and DL24-500 f/2.8-5.6, will be delayed due to the serious issues with the built-in integrated circuit for image processing.
Cameras will be available only starting July.
I'm thinking for wedding photographers it would be ideal to shoot a ceremony with the usual dual cameras, but to throw in the DL18-50 for wide angle coverage.
For instance:
Main camera: Nikon D750 with 85mm f/1.8
2nd camera: Nikon D7200 70-200 f/2.8
3rd camera (on the hip, or even in the pocket, as it is so small): Nikon DL18-50
That would be for the ceremony when longer reach is usually needed more, but moments might pop up where you want to go wide.
As the sun goes down and party kicks in, then for reception I'd likely switch the 85mm to instead a 50mm or even 35mm on the D750 as you will get in closer for those dancefloor shots. And the 85mm can go on the D7200 instead.
Mmmm... tempting thoughts!
The DL18-50 would also be perfect for real estate videographer/photography.
If they market it right, then Nikon should find every real estate salesperson in the world buying a DL18-50!! (but sadly the salespeople will remain ignorant, and they won't)
I wonder if one day Nikon might make a DL85-200 as a compact portable portrait camera. Would make for a perfect companion to the DL18-50!! And be better, cheaper (or at least a similar price), and more compact than buying a Sony RX10 mk2 to do the same thing.
Why does Nikon put their latest 6A processors in there cheapest cameras first.
It is quite standard practice for many years. Panasonic frequently debuted LSI in TZ cameras.
What are the Video recording limits?
How long will that little battery last?
Why not interchangeable Nikon 1 lens or will there be a much improved Nikon 1 camera coming soon?
Why does Nikon put their latest 6A processors in there cheapest cameras first. Only Expeed 5 in D5 & D500.
@last_SHIFT.....there's no flat profile...another stupidity
Not that I've seen :-/
