Low price zoom with medium-long focus throw?
  • Looking for a normal zoom like the Tamron 17-50, Tokina 28-70, or something along those lines that has a focus throw longer than ~45 degrees. Pisses me off that so many low priced zooms now have such ridiculously short focus throws. Are there any that I should look into?

  • My old manual focus photographic zoom lenses all have focus throws of around 120 degrees, and none of them are less than 90 degrees. You just need an all-manual lens - no auto focusing.

  • Can you recommend some 2.8 ones that are worth grabbing? @balazer

  • Old zoom lenses are not that fast. And I don't know of any new all-manual zoom lenses.
