Also I want to point out something that is amazingly useful if your shooting video on this camera. Go to the menu, select camera, and scroll down till you get to "Framing Mode" and make sure its turned off. Now you will get a proper exposure/shutter preview of what your current settings will record in video without having to go into video standby mode.
Not enough people are talking about this cameras amazing slow motion capabilities.
Nice video. Did you see the pixelerror on the right bottom corner?
And again the awful noisy onboard sound. This makes me crazy, Samsung pls work on this!
The video was shot with default settings in shutter-priority mode @ 1/60th. I did not control ev as I wanted to see what the auto defaults looked like (there is some overexposure in parts). I used Single (not Continuous) AF and then locked focus before shooting for most shots. Everything was handheld; the touch-screen focus pull required holding the camera with one hand, so it is less steady. This was the first time I used the camera outside the studio (second time in all).
@markr041: Very nice video!! Thank you for posting. Would you please share the rest of the settings you used?
Rough-cut 4K video shot in dim light, edited in Power Director 13 Ultra (which processes the H265 clips natively) and exported as XAVC S H264 4K.
Focus tests: Tests of continuous autofocus (CAF) - moving the camera and letting the camera shift focus automatically; focus pulls - changing what is in focus using the touch screen; and locking focus - moving the camera but maintaining focus on the same object.
Shutter-priority, AWB, 4K30p.
One thing I want to remind Samsung firmware writers about - you have USB 3.0.
As your firmware is based on quite complete OS it is not so hard to add support for external HDD/SSD and make it work at fastest speed possible, even if it will require external power.
One more for those who's hovering over the order button :)
The NX1 is a groundbreaking device with great features, including rapid shooting and gorgeous 4K video

Shooting performance is simply outstanding. 15fps continuous shooting is the fastest sustained performance we've ever seen.
When we finally gained access to the 4K footage, we saw blisteringly sharp details, even outperforming the fantastic Panasonic GH4.

@joethepro My bad, fingers slipped. It's supposed to be -5, not +5 :)
Can anyone post a screenshot with deep shadows that have been dramatically lifted? I'm curious to see how the H265 handles compression in the shadows and how much more usable they might be than with H264.
Wow, +5 for both with GammaDR? Or did you mean that was only for standard? Interesting choice. :)
@joethepro Thanks! Gamma DR and standard picture profile with sharpness and contrast set to +5. No changes to luminance or master black levels.
Wow I love the grade, @Brother. Great shots. Which picture style was used, GammaDR?
REQUEST TO SAMSUNG TO IMPROVE NX1
Please add a sensor crop mode to create a higher quality 60P picture. Currently the camera skips lines to create the 1080 60P picture. I understand that 60P at 4K is beyond the ability of the camera. But with a sensor crop (perhaps 2.7K), you could produce a 60P picture without any line skipping. This would be a significant improvement and most welcome by everybody.
Meh. So all the other evidence to the contrary is now moot? There's also general color degradation at high ISO that resizing wont touch. Oh well not a big deal, OT anyway.
