The photos I've seen from this lens look promising. If the price is right I'm getting it, since I need a wide to fill out my lens collection.
Kowa 8.5mm review and samples
I think it is $1200, not EUR. If you so want it, it can be got for $1100.
yes its on ebay for 1200 euro. However, when you look at this website:
http://jintarow.wordpress.com/2014/09/20/kowa-prominar-8-5mm-f2-8/
there are photos, and one of them is the lens with the pricetag in the store. In this photo it costs only 90000 yen, which is about 640 euro. Maybe the seller on ebay just wants to make some big profit from it to be the first? Looks to me this lens would be about 800-1000 euro in europe, 650 in japan.
Some photos from Photokina, 8.5mm can be already bough, not cheap
New lenses.
@endotoxic hahahahahaha that's funny. Is their management style baby steps?? One thing at a time?
only one gear ring on aperture????
Way too expensive. At least the 8.5mm ...
Keen to see what the 12mm produces image wise.
800 pounds for the 8.5 ?
Thanks nomad. btw your lens thread is a great resource for the bmpcc.
I bought that 8mm Kowa 1.4 (not 8.5) modified to MFT. Apart from massive distortion it's a very nice lens on the BMPCC, but vignettes on GH2. So the 8mm 2.8 they announced must be a different design.
Anyone know the price on the 8.5mm? And isn't there a guy on ebay selling a self adapted 8.5 Kowa m43 that's 1.4 instead of 2.8? Would this new 2.8 8.5mm be a variant of the original c-mount or something built from the ground up?
AdamT, Probably for someone who wants to buy a set of lenses with the same look. Sometimes I have trouble matching my vintage glass with modern stuff etc.
8.5mm/2.8 would be welcome. Really can't understand why someone would make another 25mm when MFT already has two 25mm f/.95s, a 25mm f/1.4, a new Olympus 25mm f/1.8, and two high quality zooms covering 25mm f/2.8.
How many folks have bought the 12-35 or the 18-35 instead of buying primes ?
