Overall, the Sony 55mm ƒ/1.8 is an extremely sharp lens. Wide open on a full-frame camera -- the Sony A7R in this case -- there's a little softness at ƒ/1.8, but the center is still quite sharp. As expected, on sub-frame cameras, we saw a little more sharpness wide open, particularly in the center. After dialing down to ƒ/2.8, we saw a dramatic increase in sharpness with only minor corner softness. On a sub-frame camera, especially, ƒ/2.8 looked amazingly sharp.
WOW!!! Jumping out of the charts http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/lens-widget-fullscreen?compare=false&lensId=zeiss_otus_55_1p4&cameraId=nikon_d800&version=0&fl=55&av=4&view=mtf-ca
I'm checking for coins between the sofa cushions and buying one right away :P
Build quality of the Zeiss 55mm f/1.4 Otus Distagon is amazing.
The image quality is wonderful. Bokeh is smooth, colors are crisp and focus point is sharp
I think if the lens are from "rare glass" like the guy says in the video, with the speedbooster you can gain a stop, but, in my logic, you will lose resolution. A this point, the purpose of this lens can be wasted. Am i right? Maybe expert people can clarify this.
Great lens anyway, i would love to have a set of these when they will be available.

Zeiss' Flickr Page with a LOT of examples
Wonder what this would be like on the Speedbooster. Could be a temporary way to get a 35mm out of it until the real 35 Otus comes out.
Also, Richard rocks!
Yes expand family quickly. And for the price point, i find it very acceptable for the image quality.
Mind melted. Looks amazing.
Hope they expand the family quickly!
