Why SD controllers are slow in most pre-2012 cameras

Ever wondered why the SD card of the 5DMKIII is much slower than the CF card speeds even though the SD card is advertised at faster writes than the camera can perform? This article (which may have already been referenced in p-v) is here for those to read.

wow, that's really bold by Canon, didn't know about that. 70D looks interesting for it's AF, I hope it has better hardware as it's SD only, would love to see ML do raw video on that one. thx driftwood.

@stip Canon don't do much better on most of their SD card cameras either. The fastest is the 6D and it can only do 40MB/s. Most of their others are in the same 20MB/s category as the 5DIII.
