MTS files - Meta Data edit?

    Is there any way to edit meta data of the MTS files BEFORE I import them into FCPx or PP or create a backup copy of the card on my hard drive? It would be nice to add some keywords etc. I can of course do this in FCPx but then if I want to edit the clips elsewhere they data is lost no?

    I think keeping the whole MTS file structure might be a pain, better to just rewrap them and then use "A better finder - renamer" to change the file names to something usable?
