Bit depth and dynamic range (gh2 avchd)

    does anyone know if this is correct (have googled but didn't find it because I don't know the right terms)

    for 8 bit (total of 265 tonal values)

    brightest stop 128 tonal values

    next stop 64
    next stop 32
    next stop 16
    next stop 8
    next stop 4
    next stop 2
    next stop 1

    That's 8 stops total (about what the GH2 is capable of)
