  • Looks like a cut down Revcon

  • @soundgh2

    Can you elaborate, please?

    Add Revcon description, videos, etc?

  • Sorry mate - Tac Systems make a Pro Tools plugin called Revcon which essentially de-reverberates reverberant sound sources - and it works very well for me - especially on speech.

    Demo and examples here:

Nice to see Prosoniq not totally disappearing looks like Zynaptiq have acquired their stuff.

  • Anyone on a Mac with access to Unveil/Revcon who would like to help out a fellow filmmaker? I'm trying to save an interview which suffers from too much ambience and my SPL De-Verb doesn't do the job good enough. Payment could be involved ;)

  • Hi oscillian,

you can download an unveil demo at zynaptiq.com It should save your dialog. I use it very much and imo it is very much better than Revcon, which produces a lot of artifacts. BR Uli

  • This could be a game changer. It's sounding pretty impressive so far even in their extreme examples.

  • @uliman Yeah, I know :) Only problem is I'm on Win7 and the plug-in is Mac only. @mintcheerios It's amazing! Just what the sound doctor ordered!

  • Finally VST!

  • Just a heads-up that the trial version is now available for windows at http://www.zynaptiq.com/unveil/downloads/

    Cheers!

  • ...and it's pretty impressive. As far as I can see, using it in Adobe Audition, the VST version will only stay loaded for 10 mins (it says) and then you have to reload the effect. However, you can hop in and out of it and it keeps the settings while you have your host app open, and once you've worked on something it lets you process and save it. So really, it's pretty much useful even in the demo version. Need to have more of a play but you can strip the reverb off something - it actually sounds like the mic is closer, including more transients (which is what you get when you move a real mic closer!).

No substitute for doing it properly in the first place but I can see real uses for speech. Haven't tried it with speech yet but it works very well with the music I've tried so far (a poor recording in a church of a concert I took part in).

  • Just a quick note: a much less extensive (but nonetheless free) approach to some forms of ambience reduction is Sheppi for Windows VST. http://dallashodgson.info/articles/OpenAmbienceProject/

Also, there is an extensive thread on the topic of DeConvolution (including mentioning Zynaptiq and MATLAB) at http://www.gearslutz.com/board/music-computers/60299-convolution-reverb-removal.html
