Online food sales in Russia in the first half of 2021 increased by 174% compared to the same period in 2020 and reached 149 billion rubles, VAT included, calculated by analysts of the consulting company DataInsight. During this period, the number of orders almost quadrupled, to 118 million units.
In a similar way, the volume of this segment was estimated by INFOLine: according to its version, food sales on the Internet increased 2.5 times, to 150 billion rubles.
In the first half of 2021, the average check for online orders decreased by 26%, to RUB 1,260, DataInsight states. The company's analyst Olga Pashkova attributes this decline to the rapid growth of such fast delivery services as Samokat and Yandex.Lavka.
The leader of traditional retail - X5 Group (Pyaterochka, Perekrestok, Karusel chains) - the average check in the first half of the year remained practically unchanged, amounting to 434.1 rubles. In the first half of 2021, X5 Group sales from digital businesses (Perekrestok Vprok, express delivery, 5Post) amounted to just over RUB 21 billion. without VAT.
Only X5 is serious player here, all other are intermediaries and are just loosing money. None of them will survive next 2 years.
