Capitalism: Container ships monopolies are ripping everyone, especially US

    Maersk estimated that global container demand grew by just 2.7% in the second quarter of 2021 compared to the same period in 2019. Maersk's average freight rate (including both contract and spot businesses) was $3,038 per forty-foot equivalent (FEU), up 63% from $1,868 per FEU in Q2 2019. The Drewry Global Container Spot Rate Index is up $9371 per FEU this week, up 6.7 times from two years ago.
