If China does not cut greenhouse gas emissions under the Paris Climate Agreement, humanity will face disaster, predicted Paul Bledsoe, a strategic adviser at the American Institute for Progressive Policy.
The United States and European countries are committed to reducing emissions, which should lead to overall emissions reductions over the long term. However, this could be hindered by an increase in harmful emissions in China.
Bledsoe pointed to a recent study by the Rhodium Group, which said that in 2019, China's emissions exceeded those of all developed countries combined.
According to the expert, if this trend continues, it may not achieve the goal of the Paris Agreement - carbon neutrality by 2050. This can increase the risk of catastrophic climate change.
Humanity will certainly face disaster if we won't be able to put guys like Paul Bledsoe in some detention camp in Siberia.
