Apple cuts production plan for AirPods for the current year by 25-30%. Not only this, but big marketplaces are already offering AirPods at 25% off the starting price. The company still hopes to see a resurgence in demand for this product category, but this hopes are mostly unfounded.
Interesting fact is that around 40% of all sold notebooks during last 4 months bad been sold during special sales offers, contrary to only 5% one year ago.
Same is true for iPhone smartphones, in Asia 55% of smartphones had been sold at least 15% below official price, in EU this numbers are around 40%.
Very interesting development.
As now (last 10 months) most big sites and youtube influences have special contracts with Apple where they are obliged to cover almost each happening sale. They also use special affiliate links and similar things, so, for example, Amazon could pass this information further to Apple. Numbers significantly affect how Apple work with their informational partners (aka presstitutes) - ones who bring good sales will get gear well before release and also get personal managers to help arranging reviews, benchmarks and so on.
