The Stiftung Warentest tested various washing machines from different manufacturers in 2013.
The result: none of the machines tested reached 60 ° C in the 60-degree eco programs. One machine even reached only 35.4 instead of 60 degrees Celsius.
What most consumers do not know: The legislature only stipulates that the eco programs must achieve a certain washing effect, but not the temperature indicated on the machine. Manufacturers use this "gap" and sometimes drastically lower the temperature of their eco programs in order to save energy. In conjunction with a longer running time, the required washing performance is still achieved and the machine is given a high energy efficiency class.
