“China has banned students from using mobile phones in schools to protect them from addiction to the Internet and video games.

The Ministry of Education of the PRC recently issued a circular according to which primary and secondary school students should not bring mobile phones to the territory of the educational institution.

If a student really needs to have a mobile phone at school, then a special request must be sent to the school administration with the written consent of the guardians, the circular says.

After the application is approved, the student must, upon arrival at the school, give the phone to the designated responsible persons for safekeeping. It is strictly forbidden to bring your phone into the classroom.

The circular also stipulates that schools must take additional steps to meet the needs of students to communicate with parents by phone during their stay at school.
