Capitalism: Paradox - it is fewer silicon chips, but they are more and more expensive
  • Global silicon wafer shipments are set to increase 2.4% on year in 2020 after falling 6.9% in 2019, with growth continuing in 2021 and 2022.

Silicon wafer area shipments are forecast to reach 11.957 billion square inches in 2020, up from 11.677 billion square inches last year, SEMI disclosed. Shipments will register another on-year increase of 5% in 2021 reaching 12.554 billion square inches, and reach a record high of 13.22 billion square inches in 2022.

Silicon wafers is important step where elites control production.

Actual chip output is not increasing, it is only density (via 3D NAND and 3D RAM) and price that are increasing during last year.
