Capitalism: Taiwanese GPU and MB cartel got record profits
  • Asustek reported revenues of NT$43.7 billion (US$1.51 billion) for its brand businesses for September, up 24% on year. For the third quarter of 2020, Asustek's brand business revenues went up 38% on year to arrive at NT$118.6 billion.

Gigabyte's consolidated revenues for the first three quarters of 2020 reached NT$61.14 billion, up 32.9% on year thanks to rising sales of motherboards and graphics cards.

MSI's consolidated revenues for the first three quarters of 2020 also grew nearly 20% on year thanks to strong orders for its motherboards and graphics cards.

ASRock's motherboard and graphics card sales were undermined by the coronavirus pandemic in the first quarter, but its server motherboard shipments were significantly boosted by increased demand for cloud computing services.

Main I talked with told that B550 MB profit is around 5x compared to B350 MB few years ago. Same is true for Intel lineup.

Considering GPU, Nvidia is also generous and allowed to double profits in RTX 2xxx lineup and further increase them in RTX 3xxxx.
