Apple and wireless charging, or that lack of foldable screens can do
  • Apple plans to launch a high-end iPhone without a Lightning connector in the second half of 2021, according to a new prediction from analyst Ming-Chi Kuo. The device will supposedly offer a "completely wireless experience," suggesting that Apple is not switching to USB-C, but rather dropping the port entirely.

Apple will create more differentiation between the highest-end and high- end models. It will benefit the shipment of the highest-end model and iPhone ASP. Among new 2H21 iPhone models, we expect that the highest-end model would cancel the [Lightning] port and provide the completely wireless experience.

Why Apple is doing this? This still lack any supplier or designs of foldable phones.

But main reason here is - increase profits. As using wireless charging always means much more energy losses and all of them happen directly near battery, hence much higher temperature during charging. It is expected that battery degradation speed will be 1.5-2x compared to present iPhones.

  • The Samsung wireless charger has a fan to lower the heat.

Looking at its construction it absolutely does not work for phone side of things and this is where heat matters.

Heat transfer between smartphone and charger will be horrible, and it is only charger part facing phone that is cooled from inside.

To make it efficient you need to make lot of holes and cool phone directly, and I think Apple will never do this.
