    The new accessories will not be possible to pre-order until december - for delivery in 2020 I guess. Also a bummer.

    Earlier this year Woodman promised a new exiting three camera line up.

    Instead they reverted back to the old school of just introducing a single new high end model and continue the rest at reduced price points.

    Whole idea - get maximal profits on them.

    Hero8 launch suffers from "late stage production delay" pushing the availability from Q3 to Q4.

    CEO Woodman refused to elaborate further on the production issue and delay in a investor conference call on October 2nd. The result is a whopping 20 per cent drop in the stock value.

    What the heck is going on here?

    The Hero8 has a new "high performance" battery which looks the same as before and have the same capacity, yet the battery seems to deliver more power for the high performance modes like 1080/240 with hypersmooth on.

    The GoPro Hero 8 Black is available to pre-order on October 15 2019

    Local internet store has a few leaks in their webpage:

    • HDMI output is gone (As predicted)

    • Front facing mic below the lens for better sound.

    • HyperSmooth 2.0 - three settings: ON, HIGH and BOOST. The amount of image cropping varies between the settings. A horizontal leveling function is also available.

    • TimeWarp 2.0 adjusts the warping effect dynamically based on motion, scene content and light conditions. You can also adjust the amount of warp in real-time during recording.

    • LiveBurst records 1,5 sec before and after you push the record button.

    As suspected these functions seems to be entirely based on a firmware update with minor adjustments to the hardware.

    The rather fancy "super suit" moniker has been replaced with "protective housing" for the Hero8 Black housing.

    4K60. Still running GP1 chip.

    HyperSmooth 2.0

    TimeWarp 2.0

    Improved low light performance (have they replaced the sensor or is it just alternations to back end processing).

    Digital Lenses (Whatever that might be. Zoom during recording?)

    Capture presets. (About time)

    All in all it confirms the "incremental upgrade" philosophy of the company. The extras might be the hot stuff this year.

    It seems I was a few days off.

    Hero 8 and MAX event scheduled for 1st of October. Or October 1 if you live in that part of the world.

    New GoPro teaser shows the same camera as the leaked pictures.

    Official announcement could come next week.

    Probably September 19. It's always on thursdays.

    Or September 26 if they wait until the end of the month.

    And they pre announce 2-3 days before on monday/thuesday in the same week.

    As before the specs are a bit underwhelming.

    HyperSmooth2 could be an improvemnet, but the rest seems to be a simple form factor adjustment only.

    Price hike in US is probably to USD450.

    Neither shoe on the media adapter looks hot. Light clearly has charge port and button. To bad we don't see the optional selfie LCD in the leaked photos.
