This controllers use either two PCIe 3.0 lines or two PCIe 2.0 lines (on bad motherboards or if you inserts card into PCIe 2.0 slot).

Advantage is that one port is able to transfer full 10Gbit, and both will top at around 8Gbit.

Disadvantage is that you really need PCIe x4 slot, or motherboard manufacturer need to route two lines and make them unavailable for other devices/slots.
