UHD on PCs will be very hard nut
  • At first you'll need very rare and costly UHD drive.

Second, you need to have latest 7th generation Intel CPU.

Playback on any other CPU, including all upcoming AMD chips will be prohibited due to lack of SGX instructions.

Third, you need HDCP 2.2 display or TV.

In other words, you'll need to download torrent if you want to watch UHD film on PC.

  • What about the graphic card? Why is a strong CPU needed when the graphic cards have enough power?

  • @olli66

It is not about video decoding.

It is requirement to protect all decoding path.

Most funs us that HDCP stripper paired with any cheap recorder solves all this

  • that would be one of the stupidest things ever if people have to buy new mainboards and CPUs for 4k blu-ray playback my pc meets all the specs for mooth 4k playback my drive reads XL discs, I inserted some 4k blu-ray discs and I can see the files so my drive can read the discs, my PC is powerful enough for 4k playback but all this won't do?
