Widen your point of view with the new Irix 11mm f/4 lens!

TH Swiss company is pleased to announce the official launch of the new model of Irix lens 11mm f/4. It is another ultra wide-angle rectilinear manual focus lens designed for DSLR cameras. But this time... it's even wider!

Ingenious functionality od Irix 11mm f/4

To the family of Irix lenses joins a lens with focal length of 11mm and aperture f/4. After Irix 15mm f/2.4, Irix 11mm inherited the same, tested and appreciated technological solutions such as: extra handy focus lock mechanism, extremely useful infinity click feature and very intuitive and user-friendly hyperfocal scale. Rear gelatin filter slot is another common feature of new Irix 11mm f/4.

    Firefly and Blackstone versions

Just like in Irix 15mm, this lens is offerred in two finishing versions. Firefly as a standard version is made of lightweight composite, provided with anti slip rubber coating ring and clearly printed markings. There will be also a premium version available, which is Blackstone with durable aluminium and magnesium body that ensures foolproof protection of your lens. Blackstone's engraved fluorescent markings reflect the UV light to enable easy operation in low-light conditions.

Describing the product packaging, Firefly version will be offered in a set with soft lens pouch, while Blackstone version will be secured in hard lens case. It is also worth mentioning that as with Irix15mm, the user gets an additional rear cap in package.

    Resistance to extreme weather

All Irix lenses can be used in even the harshest weather conditions. Both versions of 11mm are equipped with a weather sealed construction that protects the interior against dust and moisture. Thanks to inner seals they are also protected from accidental water splashes – two seals are around focus ring and one seal on bayonet mount.

    Widen your point of view

As well Blackstone as Firefly versions are offered with identic mechanical and optic construction.

They offer minimal barrel distortion of 3,13% and astonishing diagonal angle of view of 126 degrees. Combining these two qualities together makes that lens an ideal tool for both outdoor and indoor photography - whether it is photojournalism, landscapes or architecture. Encompassing capabilities specific to analogue photography with ingenious technology and solutions, Irix 11mm f/4 is perfect equipment for both professionals and hobbyists.

    Recommended retail prices are:

    • 635 EUR (tax incl) / 575 USD (net) for Irix Firefly
    • 865 EUR (tax incl) / 775 USD (net) for Irix Blackstone

Both versions will be available with Canon EF and Nikon F mounts. The Pentax K-mount version will be released later.

    Irix 11mm f/4 availability

The TH Swiss will be officially premiering 11mm lens from March 18th to 21st, during The Photography Show in Birmingham there will be a possibility to buy the first copies. All interested are invited to visit Irix at Stand No C31. Worldwide sale will start off after the exhibition.

Center sharpness is impressively high throughout the entire aperture range, with peak performance between f/5.6-f/11. Corner sharpness is also excellent, again producing optimal sharpness at f/5.6-f/11. At f/16 sharpness is beginning to drop off a little due to diffraction, and is clearly evident at f/22.

  • TH Swiss company, listening to the requests and inquiries from their customers, officially announces the availability of the updated correction profiles for Irix 11mm and 15mm lenses to use with Adobe Photoshop Lightroom software.

The update concerns the improvement of the correction data for distortion and vignetting. Moreover, the way of displaying the profiles inside of Adobe program has changed. Earlier versions of the profiles required finding Irix lenses in camera's manufacturer tab, while in current version you can find both models of Irix lenses listed in dedicated tab called „Irix”. The profiles package for both lenses is now ready to download from the website irixlens.com on subpage: Updates →Downloads →Others.

Especially for Irix lenses users, TH Swiss prepared two video tutorials to explain how to install and use Irix profiles on Windows and Mac Computers. These video tutorials can be found on Irix YouTube channel: http://www.youtube.com/irixlens

Irix 11mm f/4.0 and Irix 15mm f/2.4 lenses: Now with official Adobe CC profile support

We would like to remind all current and future users of Irix lenses that as from June 19, the Adobe CC package is now officially supported for Irix 11mm f / 4.0 and Irix 15mm f / 2.4 lenses (from ACR 10.4) which allows automatic correction of distortion and chromatic aberration.

As one of the few manual lenses available on the market, Irix lenses are equipped with an electronic AE system which not only allows the user to control the aperture from the camera, but also to record information on exposure parameters in EXIF format, the effect of which is the possibility of continuous software development of our lenses.

We believe that photography should be a harmonious process, not a struggle.

Users of previous versions of Adobe software can still download the appropriate correction profiles from www.irixlens.com (http://en.irixlens.com/downloads).
