Another HDCP 2.2 stripper
  • image

    Info from http://www.curtpalme.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=39508

    Around $34 now.

For 30fps and below must work good.

It is just small hello to idiots at Netflix.

  • Wow! Good idea, now you can connect any old HDMI TV or projector and watch DRM content.

  • Checked the links posted but still not really sure what this does -improved image/higher resolution to older projectors/TV's?

  • @tubefingers

    LOL.

If you watch 4K Blu-Ray or Netflix 4K they require HDMI with HDCP 2.2 protection. So, if your old TV set or received does not support one - you are out of luck and it won't show anything. With such stripper you are back into the game and can use any old thing.

Or if you want to make recording of your favorite 4K movie, for backup purposes, of course :-) It will also be required, as none of capture tools work with HDCP protected source.

  • I like this!
I have the HDFury Integral. It seems to have somewhat better performance specs than the Revesun device, but at 7x the cost is more than I currently need for HDCP 2.2. For $34, I might pick up a Reveson for comparison sake - need to read through the reviews. Thanks for the info!

  • Even cheaper it is at

Just note that it has 9Gbps limit, not 18Gbps of normal HDMI 2.0, so you have 4K 60Hz working only at 4:2:0.

But for now almost all 4K content will work.

  • Just so I get this straight.. If I'm outputting 4k signal with HDCP 2.2 from PS4 into Denon receiver that only accepts / outputs HDCP 1.4, into 4k tv- put this device in line (where?), and I'll be able to watch 4k content with HDCP 2.2 no problems?

I think you also confuse HDMI and HDCP (as you refer to HDMI 1.4 most probably).

Stripper is usually made for DRM-ed video playback, I do not know if Playstation actually has HDCP enabled in games.

But fro videos it must work.

  • I think you're right. The PS4 mentions in settings that some content may not playback in 4k because of hdcp limitations (netflix, et al). The particular model of receiver is notorious for not shipping with new standard. This box will get me up to snuff if I place in between ps4 and receiver?

  • warning reads: "the tv connected does not support hdcp 2.2. Applications that support 4K might not display in 4K"

    yep.
