Canon EOS-1D X Mark II vs Nikon D5
Sigma PR
We have found that some SIGMA interchangeable lenses for CANON are not fully compatible with CANON EOS-1DX Mark II, which was released on April 28th. When certain lenses are attached to this camera, exposure of the image may not be accurate. We are sorry for the inconvenience, and we will make a further announcement on our website when specific details are finalised. In addition, please also refer to the below usage notice related to this announcement.
When the lenses listed below are used and either “Evaluative Metering” or “Center-weighted Average Metering” is selected in Metering Mode of the camera, the image could show some underexposure.
Products concerned are:
- Sigma 20mm F1.4 DG HSM | Art
- Sigma 35mm F1.4 DG HSM | Art
- Sigma 85mm F1.4 EX DG HSM
One of the key step ups between the original 1D X and the new camera has been the frame rate – which now offers 14fps continuous shooting of full resolution RAW or JPEG files, plus the ability to shoot at 16fps in Live View mode. But has this frame rate increase proven useful for Marc? “Yes, because for the winning goal at a cup final I will now be getting a chance to capture four, five or six frames of that very, very brief moment in time, at 1/2000sec, when a man kicks a ball. So what you’re getting goes hand-in-hand with what I was talking about before – it’s giving me more of an opportunity to be creative because it’s giving me more of a frame rate… so it’s pushing me further because I know the camera is capable of it; therefore I become more capable.”
Issue with cards
If a SanDisk CFast card is inserted into the camera or a card reader, the bottom part of still images recorded may be corrupted. This phenomenon is confirmed in images recorded in both the RAW and JPEG formats.
In the RAW file, the image corruption may appear in the bottom right corner of the image.
In the JPEG file, the image corruption may appear in the lower third area of the image.
- Movie recording is not affected by this phenomenon.
- Still images or movies recorded to CF cards are not affected by this phenomenon.
This phenomenon is caused by SanDisk CFast cards. The camera does not cause this phenomenon.
