Soon, if you have a new PC, you won't be able to run Windows 7 or 8. Microsoft has announced an update to its support policy that lays out its plans for future updates to its older operating systems, and the new rules mean that future PC owners with next-generation Intel, AMD, and Qualcomm processors will have to use Windows 10.

Microsoft didn't say you can't run Windows 7 and 8 on new processors. All they're saying is it won't be supported. It will work just fine, if you can find the drivers. (Just like you can run Windows 2000 on a modern PC, if you can find the drivers)

You are not correct here (as many commenters around hardware sites).

Their main idea will be to never release build in GPU drivers for this OS. It think this is that it means. For almost all business and most home users it means exactly that you won't be able to use old OS.

Concerning microsoft, we say in german: "Ein Wolf im Schafspelz" a wolf in sheep's clothing, in reality the wolf is a bloody monster! This come to light more and more.

I could be wrong, but the real issue is whether Intel and AMD will support Windows 7 on future processors and chipsets. For example, when Microsoft officially stopped supporting XP, so did Intel. This was around the time Haswell E was released, and you could not install XP on that processor. So, if the chipmakers continue to follow Microsoft's lead, the future doesn't look good.
