Looks like a useful component for a field monitor to me:
Sharp announced today that it's going to manufacture the world's sharpest display, a 5.5" IGZO screen with a 4K/UHD 3840 x 2160 resolution. The display has a pixel density of 806 PPI and will arrive in devices in 2016.

(In earlier news, Samsung had announced a slightly bigger organic LED display of the same resolution
I guess the "put monitor right before your nose" scenario is indeed one of this display's primary use cases: For use in "VR-glasses", where there's little distance and a lens between one's eyes and the smartphone mounting frame.
First thing you need is invest in perfect vision :-)
Even with it you will also need to put monitor right before you nose to use all advantages.
